New avatar:rock: Damn you Mac heads now I am going to have to buy more yellow saws, my wife is going to divorce me or maybe i will get lucky and she will just tell me NO!:yoyo:

If any Macs or other saws need a temporary or permanant home away from home, they're welcome to my barn. :D

CPR, your picture reminds me to ask:

Does anyone have a source for a 125 muffler? It doesn't have to be the box type so long as the inlet conforms to the exhaust port. The can I took off the saw has a smaller inlet than the port so I'm looking to get it right. Thanks, Ron

PS to all: I hope to have something to report to you MACaniacs by the weekend. :msp_biggrin:
Would that report include the number "105" ??????

I remember the McCulloch tv ads, some were made locally and showed real sawing by real people. The last one I saw was in the early '80s, some 30 something kid, high stumping a big DF.

McCulloch pronunciation

Most people I know pronounce it "mucolluh"

I notice in that eager beaver commercial, it's pronounced "mucollick"

What say the gurus concerning the proper pronunciation?

:msp_confused:

Mac 10-10

I got some shop time last night, while the family was watching IDOL.
First off is the befor and after of the exhaust port. The pics show lots of chips and filth, I made sure it was clean befor I buttoned it up.

I cleaned up the intake side just to the dims of the CI on the inside face. The Al. looked pretty rough, where it transitions to the CI. Nice size port tho.

after, not much difference.

Man that muffler has no volume, plus a hard 90 deg. turn.

Hmmmmm.

How bout some pipes? :D Just take some small stainless steel pipes that match the diameter of the exhaust ports, weld them onto a flange so you can mount them as flush as possible to the port holes, and bend the pipes if neccessary. I bet the saw would give your neighbors nightmares for years to come... I r evil... :hell_boy:

Wait a minute... did you cut a hole in the muffler? I can't tell from the pic... :msp_confused:

As I have mentioned on several occassions, I have a PM800 that is noticeably stronger than all by other 82cc MACs. I haven't looked inside to check on any port work but it has a hole cut in the muffler of about that same size. The power difference isn't just a mod-induced preception as I didn't know about the mod for some time nor is it due to the noise as I wear muffs that are quieting enough to interfere with my enjoyment of my 125.

If the 1010 has pinned rings why not takeout the bridge - or is that too much of an opening?

Exhaust pipe: I was thinking on the lines of fabbing a transition piece, tapered cone, and a stinger.. More volume plus some scavenging...

No pins in the ring grooves. I'll go conservative this round, and give it a try. I noticed on 610's pics the PM850 is an open exhaust port and has the thin rings!! It looks to me like Mcculloch built these things with speed and economy in mind. Very rough castings and machining. That just means there is more room for improvement!!

Hehe. Yep, they were begging me to port it... :D There was that huge casting flash of a lip in the exhaust port... what good is that gonna do to my exhaust flow? None, that's for sure. :) So I got rid of it. :D

Well guys, do I post pics and report the progress on my Ryobi SS30 here or on the main forum? I don't know if the mods would let a string trimmer thread last long... then again, Brad has all of his Stihl blowers modded in a huge poll thread, so I guess I should make a new thread on my trimmer... :)
