Oops

That makes sense. Don't give up anything of real value for the mini-mac. If you get it, tear it apart with no intention of successfuly getting it back together. If you DO get it back together and running, then it'll be a pleasant surprise. CAD Yellow Fever is bad. Just don't compound things as I have by also contracting Scarlet Fever (Red for Homelite) and GangGREEN for the old Poulans. No hope for you at all then....:dizzy:

OH CRAP

Since my CAD started this last summer i have somehow got.
1-stihl 021 (love it, but love my macs more)
2 -mac 10-10's (been running super high fever)
1 - 1959 Clinton D65 ( Runs and will be restored )
1 - 1959 Wright GS-5020 ( have another one coming to make 1 good runner from the 2 thanks to SprintCar)
1 - Poulan SUper 33 (sitting in a friend garage a hundred miles from home, waiting to be delivered to me)
1 - Homelite Super XL (my sons first project saw)

On the list of saws to come - MANY MACS AS POSSIBLE.

AF stud bracket

Eccentric, That #46 stud bracket thing was the whole problem to my screw down in carb issue, someone spot welded the screw and obviously not good enough. I got another screw for it and welded it on there as to NEVER come off.

Now me being new to this and stupid questions are always asked, what chain on these (the Pro 10-10 need a chain)?

I have read .354 pitch but have not had luck on the internet finding one.

tbow, welcome to Yellow Fever central...

I started out with a 610... then a guy sent me a basketcase 850... then another guy sent me a basketcase 790...

The 790 is asking everything of me. New paint... Ported it as well... .030" over...

She's gonna be a rip snorting beast. It'll be fun to cut up some firewood with it, 20" bar and .404" chain... Yep, I'm gonna put an 8, maybe 9 pin .404 rim on it for the short firewood bar set up.

Now, when it comes to big stuff... I'm hoping to get my greasy paws on a 42" or bigger roller nose bar... I've already got the 20" and 24" hard nose bars that fit the big Mac mount... one needs the bar rails closed up...

I found a few trees around here that a bar that big would be needed on a 6+ cube saw. The first time I use it will make everyone understand why I wanted a saw this big in the first place...

Tonight, I'm hoping to get some more bags of baking soda. I'll buy three this time... while I'm out, I will also grab some more cork/rubber gasket material, and also a roll of that fancy paper gasket material... gonna need them for some of the projects around here.

24"? Get a 250.

Sir Randy? Is a 250 or Super 44A better?

Don't quote me on it if I'm wrong, but I think you said a Super 250 was better than a Super 44A at one point, but that the Super 44A was better than the regular 250.

Curious inquiry brought to you by the Shop Monkey...

I would say that the saw in the top pic is best. The reason I am thinking that at this moment is because it looks lie it is drinking a couple PBR's and a shot. That's my kind of saw.

Umm... they're both the same saw... a 250...

Super 44A looks like this...

Ignore the '55' label on the pic name... I was (and still am) learning about Macs...

I was making a funny. Looks like those are 2 separate saws of the same model. 1 has a black wrap on the top handle and 1 does not.

I will have to post a pic of the twins later.

Oh. Simpleton me...

Yes, Randy has two 250's. His last name starts with 'Mac'... so he might as well... :D

That looks like a big project. I will have to gain a bit more knowledge before I tackle something like that. I have been getting mine "semi-shiny" but my luck will run out soon.

Yep, she needs a new crank... it got f'ed up... apparently someone years ago forgot to tighten the clutch nut, thus the clutch slipped loose and damaged the keyways on both the crank and clutch... otherwise, she's complete. I cleaned her up shortly after I got her.

Even after swapping out the crank and clutch, I still am going to go to the welding instructors and have them fix the damaged parts... it wouldn't be all that difficult to fix the crank. Heck, I could probably make the welds myself, and then bring it to someone with a lathe to get turned down, polished, and a new keyway cut into the crank...

Obviously I won't do the welding unless I do tons of research, I bet it would require preheating and postheating for the best results...

Also needs a carb. The original one's butterfly shafts are stuck. They will not budge. I have, so far, decided a Tilly HL will be going on it. No guarantees though, maybe a flatback will make its way on there, who knows? It's simply a little early to tell. It really depends on whether I like the flatback carb that I'm going to be putting on the 790...

Get a crappy little creamsickle and tear it all apart. That's how I learned what's inside of a saw... Oopsie part was chucking that basketcase 026 into the landfill. In my defense, my mom made me do it.

McCulloch 440

Warped5 – Today was the first test run for that saw, I will be looking for a larger bar after seeing how this saw performed with this bar. This is the 18” bar that was on the saw when I got it. What size bar would you recommend .

My project 440 came with a 24", but I'm looking for a bit longer one that I can switch between it and my Super 250.

Did anybody recently pick up a HAUL of old Macs in the Western/Central NY area?

There was an ad on one of the local CL's for five vintage Macs, one of 'em a two-man saw. I'm strictly a 10-series collector so I passed on them.

Just wondering what all was there.

Mac 800

Well, I found another Mac. Won't have photos for a bit. Gonna chase after it, first. In order to do so I got to release the old 800. She's for sale in the classifieds now. The new mac is same as the old, just better condition. So gonna let the old one go since I am not a big fan of duplicates. I also am starting a new job shortly and can use some help getting some tools I need. So thanks for yer consideration.
