Yep. That dang orange JD parts saw and the big yeller thing are indeed taking up room here. They'll be headed east to the land of the packer-backers soon. And they'll be 'clogging up the steps' unless you have a HUGE mailbox.

I hope it stops before it gets that far east. No other worries here. I'll make sure the Ms. can use the other door.

on the feul leek at the fuel bowl. dig that old hard rubber screen out take the rubber off, ciean it out real good and find a thick oring that fits snug to the outer diam of the bowl housing put screen in then oring giass bowl and snugg it down, not to tight or you could break the bowl. i've done this to a few now and it works.

Watching by Kindle tonight....not very convenient.

ODW - that is the wrong top cover for a 1-52 should be the long one with rounded edges.

Jeff - there are a few old saws still hanging around. The Malls will go to JJ when I get home and have some time. Please plan to stop by and pick out a few of the others to help clear some space.

In addition to the S55A and 1-81 shown earlier I also received a PM 655 last week. Not everyones cup of tea perhaps but almost completes the 600 Series collection. Now to get the SE3.7 from Joey and find the elusive PM645...

Is the first saw I ever owned...still runs strong...oiler over oils the bar and the cap leaks oil like a sieve.
Would really like to get the oil issue fixed so I can keep it cutting.
Anyone have any knowlege of the oilers on these old cheap saws?:deadhorse:

Can re cap, re tank, plenty of parts. Cork gasket under the cap, IIRC. Try a thicker oil, but beware-the oiler is a weak spot on these with a plastic gear. Maybe time to place it the limited duty rule.

Or are you some kind of weirdo with only one saw?

1-52

That's the cover it came with. I plan on putting the right cover on, but old thoughts get lost in the nooks and crannies of my mind.

The 1-52 does have all the right numbers on the bottom.

It's been on the limited duty for a long time now. It sat unused for 5 years before I ever got my second saw..can't really use a saw on a lot of the ironwood we burn here in the desert. I burn a lot of 800 plus pound logs in one piece that are covered in sand from years of being half buried in the sand washes. All you need us a big chain and a 4x4:chainsawguy:
And yeah...what kind of wierdo has only one saw?!

Cascade Saw

Does it have a large gearbox with RH start like an 895, or the compact "under cover" 650/660 gearbox and LH start?

Waiting for the pics and bore measurement...

Went to NAPA for the O ring and the only ones they had were not fuel resistant but the manager came out and they went back and found a fuel filter gasket that was the perfect size. From the looks of the envelope, they have had it a LONG time. The clerk said they don't sell many of those.

The diaphragm from the carb is pretty hard so I have it soaking in 50/50 ATF and brake fluid. How long should I leave it soaking?

I'm needing some help you guys here. I don't have many Mac but I did come across this one. I'm needing at least a pistion. I didn't have time to tear it all the way down but I do know I need a piston and rings. Maybe crank bearings and seals while I'm at it. PM me if you might have these parts or can lead me in the right direction to get these parts.
