Ms461 saw design

The saw I tested against ours still had the baffle...... flanges not ported matched.......even after we fixed that it was still way behind ours.

I did port match the baffled muffler ,i forgot to mention that ,your exhaust port barley fits between the baffle ,i had to grind some on the baffle sheet metal to thin it even ,not much but some

Reading all of this info makes me think of one thing.....what's faster? A ported 046, 460, or 461?

So much depends on the chain, operator, etc......but in my hands the MS460 is hard to beat. The 461 ends up being a more forgiving, harder pulling saw when ported correctly though.

Here is my last attempt before putting the gutted one back on ,looked like would flow good ,it was quieter ,but not as strong ,the side opening on the gutted one is larger than this also

You guys are splitting peas here. Both of these saws are fantastic. It really comes down to personal preference. There's no benefit in pitting builders against each other. That wasn't the point of this thread or my previous comments.

I agree totally......we are both capable of building great running saws.

Sounds like Stihls explanation of delayed scavening is a fancy word for a super resrictive epa baffle in a muffler!!

I think they would lose sales to the avg Joe's ,one of my workers was scared to use one of my mastermind saws after he heard me run it .......... asked if i had any smaller stock saws he could use ..........
