Gregg,

Nice Poulan scores Gregg!!!

I have a 19 or 20" RN bar on a Homelite XL12 that looks exactly like your 16" RN, except yours has a bit more bluing left on the roller. I was wondering what the origin of that bar was. I haven't looked closely for marking yet.

Where you been? Wheres that 8500 at? Too heavy for you to carry to the car? LOL

Seriously, whats the deal. You been pulling our leg aint ya?

No the guy sold the saw im not sure if he has the top end still though.

I went that next day after i pm'd you with $100 cash to buy it and he had just sold it to a guy for $85. The rest of the stuff is just junk, no more saws or tools.

Aaron, I will look again but my 203 roller said Oregon on it if I'm not mistaken, but then I could be....

You know what that makes you don't it? :angrysoapbox:

Its not like you didn't know what it was. Why have you not seen if the top end is still there?

Sorry but I'm starting to call BS on this one, but whatever.

The roller on mine says "Oregon" too. All the non-Remington RN bars I've seen have "Oregon" or "Torrington" on the roller (and Oregon bought the Torrington patents if I'm not mistaken), no matter who made or sold the bar originaly. I have a few old Cannon bars with Oregon and Torrington marked rollers. I haven't seen "Oregon" or any other markings on this bar yet.........but I haven't pulled it off the saw.

I was just thinkin' that maybe my bar was sold new on a Poulan saw, or by a Poulan dealer. Don't these saws use the same bar mount as the XL12 family............or am I out of my tree?:D

Lol

What you have there is an ultra-rare 'valveless' high-flow diaphragm. Them's bring good money on feebay!!!:D

your almost right what we have there is whats been driving me nuts!!!! got a saw and the gaskets were backwards!! i did not look close enuff to see he cut the flaps ears valves what ever they are called off!!! replaced it with one i had on another walbro carb and she starts right up!!! have ya all ever seen where someone i guess he felt it should match the paper gasket!!!I was really stumped !!! guess i should slow down and look at stuff a lil closer!!!

I knew exactly what it was. But i dont need another saw. So i was not really that interested. I figured a few of you already had some 8500s, i didnt think they were rare. Im not really interested in the parts for the saw, or the saw really for that matter. I stopped by he sold it, i said ok and left.

No your not completly out of the tree yet.

Where I think your getting confused is that Poulan contracted for quite a few bars from Windsor and Windsor to my knowledge never made a what you would call a dedicated Poulan/Echo style mount like the Oregon D176.

Windsor did have the Homelite bar mount which in Oregon would be the D096 mount that almost mirrors the Poulan D176 mount except for the fact that it had a 3/8" slot compared to the D176 mounts 5/16" slot.

So you did find alot of Homelite bars on the Poulans (and Echos for that matter) with the "S" clip style stud spacer on them.

So it is very possible to find a Poulan branded bar that will bolt straight up on your Homelites. Just like you might find a Homelite bar on my Poulan with only a stud spacer needed to make it fit.

Sure kid, Ok.

Not a big deal. You could have made some bucks on it though, that is if there was a 8500...

Did i hurt your feelings by not bending over backwards for you? The guy that bought it, probably doesnt have 30 saws and he actually needs it.

You probably aren't doing yourself any favors by acting this way brother.

A lot of guys here help one another out on stuff, and I've seen you out there looking for help also. When you take an attitude like that it may inhibit people from helping you out in the future, when you need it.

I know this is just chainsaws we're talking about here, not finances, housing, food and so on, but everything you say here is available for everyone else to see. It may not do you any good down the line to act the way you are if you plan on sticking around here.

I don't really even know what you guys are into it about, just watch what bridges you burn man.

Nope, didn't hurt my feelings at all. Your right, I don't need one. You could have used a couple hundred bucks though couldnt you? You wouldnt have had to bend over backwards to get it either, would have been easy money.

The only thing that bothers me is that I suspect your story might not have been true from the beginning. Too many things changed, seemed too far out there etc.

If I'm wrong then I'm sorry, but I'm not the only one who had that feeling and thats the really sad part.

I'm liking the Poulans more every day.

Hey Chris, can you post the link(s) to your recent Poulan 245 video(s) here? Embedded videos on AS just show up as empty boxes with a tiny white square in the corner...............if anything shows up at all.

Thanks

Ah. Now I'm getting it. I've seen those little "S" shaped spacer things before and wondered what the heck they were. That'd explain why I've seen bars listed to fit XL series Homelites and these Poulans, while I've seen others that were listed for one series but not the other.

So that D176 mount is the same for the Poulan 245/306/361/etc and the midsize Echos like the CS451? I hope so, as I have a good 20" spocket nose left over from a CS451VL that I got rid of. I was saving that bar "just in case". Now I know that the "in case" can be an old Poulan. Come to think of it...........I wondered why I saw the midsize Echos listed as taking the same # bars as the Homelite XL12's in my Cutters Choice catalog, when I 'knew' that only the large Echos (CS802 and bigger IIRC) used the D096 mount. Cutter's Choice must've included the "S" spacer thingee with those bars for use with the midsize Echos (and I'm sure the Poulans). Learn something know every day... :D

Hey man, no problem.

Those NorCal guys were never good with computers anyways. :snicker:
