The big poulan is clean! I am working on my dads old super right now too. Took it apart found the recoil gear was broken. new one on the way from eaby. At least they are easy to work on.

I have always said that I will buy anything........ANYTHING if there is enough of it and it is cheap enough!!! LOL

I would sure like to have an opportunity to buy those parts. Keep me posted.

i'd love to get ahold of a 361 with a bow on it....thats what my dad ran in the pulp woods around here 30somethin' years ago

I'd say it counts. It is a very good saw, but the air filtration was some of the worse I have seen.

Man, that's a nice clean 245!

I also think the S25 is one of the easiest top handles to work on that I have come across anyway.

mark remember i said i had a poulan that looked like a homelite xl 12 body ?

well i looked under the handle it had a id tag there on that tag it says 361

according to a website for vintage saws it was introduced in 1965 and discontinued in 1976 so that is a old saw
i wonder what the value of it is
this saw still turns over

so will the parts for this be the same as the xl-12 ? if that is the case then i may just keep it and restore it

No the XL 12 is a different saw. I got a 361 here also. It turns over too, but that don't mean anything cause the compression is way down on it.

Yours got any compression?

I looked at that list of parts you posted but didn't see any that jumped out at me.

Older Poulans are not very common around here or anywhere in the Great Lakes. I think they're more common down south because thats where they wee manufactured. I see some 3400's on occasion but thats about it, nothing from before 1980. Lots of old Homies, Macs and Dave Bradleys floating around though.

Huh, I guess Nothern Indiana isn't near the Great Lakes then....

Poulan 245a

I just acquired a Poulan 245a bow saw in great working order. There's no telling how long it had been sitting in an old shed when I found it. I put some gas and oil in it, cleaned the plug and air filter and it fired right up. How old is this thing. All it is missing is the muffler. How hard will it be to find that?

The muffler of a 306 will work on a 245. I believe a lot more 306 saws were made than the 245. I have a 245 as well and it is a good saw to run.
