Thanks JJ, It come from your neck of the woods.

Yeah I know the seller that had that one. Last time I was at his house he tried to sell it to me. The stack adapter and intake manifold are aftermarket pieces, which were real popular with the Pioneers of that era. They were made by the same people that did the Eliminator system for Husqvarna.

Hi guys, I'm back from my hunting trip where I had success with a mulie buck.

.
Are you planning on painting it? The decal set should be out for that one soon.
.

Congrats on your buck! Any pictures? I posted a pic of my 10pt in "The Great Outdoors" forum. Its titled Illinois 10pt. buck. Its not huge, but at least you guys can see my ugly mug!! Yes, I plan on repainting the saw, I'm still working on the P60. Rut is in full swing here, being a taxidermist and bowhunter, I'm a busy man these days.

My buddy took pictures but I'm not too sure he'll know how to send them to me. He has no internet at home. The weather was nice, lots of deer this year.
Brendon.

I exchanged my Dolmar for a new one today on the way home. They suspected it had a bad crank seal or other leak. Who says newer is better? I trust my Pioneers more.

Just bought a P28 pioneer

Hey all,I just bought a P28s Pioneer saw at a yard sale for $5 and i'm wondering if (A) it's a good saw and (B) Is it worth fixing up..far as I can tell the only thing it needs is a new whatever to make the pull cord recoil into the saw,it pulls out and stays out. Any and all info would be helpful Thanks.

P62w

Last Saturday evening I checked e-bay for any Pioneer saw deals. Nothing I seen intrested me, so I spent some time on this site. I was getting ready to shut down the computer, and figured I would check e-bay one last time. There it was on the top of the page, a Pioneer P62 Western! It was just listed minutes ago. They had a starting bid of $49.00. I figured it was a long shot, but I e-mailed them and asked if they would consider doing a buy-it-now for $100. I expected to get a big HECK NO. Minutes later they replied back and said YES! They sent a paypal invoice and said they would remove the listing once I paid. I think I set a new record signing into Paypal! If you do an advanced search under Pioneer P62 completed listings you will see it. I could tell by the wording they were not saw people and probably did not know what they had. Considering I have seen parts Farmsaws bringing near $100.00, I feel I stole it. They listed it as parts saw and said the recoil would not come out. I got it today and sure enough I pulled on the recoil, and it wouldn't move. I pulled the muffler and looked into the cylinder and it looked spotless. I could tell by faded paint and surface rust on the muffler that it had sat outside for some time. I squirted some wd-40 in the jug and let it sit for 30 minutes. I then put a wrench on the clutch nut and barely put any pressure on it and she broke free. I pulled the jug to get a good look. The jug and piston looked NEW. There is not a mark on either, the piston is not even stained, rings looked great. I wiped the wd-40 out and put it back together. I squirted some mix into the carb and first pull she fired up. I did a comp test at 145lbs. Once I clean the carb and run it, it may come up. Well that's my story. Now comes a couple questions, is the air stack on the carb Pioneer? It fits perfectly and has no signs of being altered. Also the jug has the shoulder on it like the P50/51. It measures 2.25" so it is a 98cc. The number on the jug is 433223 which is the number for a Pioneer/Partner P62. This saw is a Pioneer. Is it possible the later Pioneer P62's used a shouldered jug? Besides the saw being absolutely dirty, I think I have a good one. It needs an air cover, and brake parts. I think I have all the parts I need.

Your P62W is a real diamond in the rough. You scored a dandy. Looks to be in good condition. I am going tomorrow to check out a P50 with a 3 peice ignition. The guy was a Pioneer dealer in the 60s and 70s. He said it was one of the first when they switched from points. It will be interesting to see what else he has.

Thanks Jeff, I got lucky. Once I get the time I will blast and paint it. Good luck on the P50. That was my first Pioneer. I inherited a complete P50 and one 75% complete. That's what started this obsession of mine. One was a 1974 and the other an early 1975. I have the original manuals with the dates. They both had the 3 piece ign., the flat air covers and the half and full wrap bars came factory with no rubber padding, only painted with a heavy coating. I know where there's an old saw shop that still has these old green full wraps nos in the box. If you get it, post some pics. Everybody loves pics!

Ed.When you say you know a shop that has these old green full wraps nos in the box,are you saying he has full wrap handles for the P50's? I do know what NOS is by the way.
Please clarify to me would you please
Thanks
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence, Yes I know a shop that has new full wraps for the P50. I spoke with them a couple months ago. The first handles (full and half) never had the rubber on them. They had a thick green paint. I believe they wanted $49.00 for them. If you need one, let me know.

You guys count differently than us... Up here they generally count per side, so it would be a 5-point. And if one has more than the other, say one side had 6, it would still be a 5-point. Unless that's changed recently; I'm not a hunter of any stripe but my uncle and cousins (and many friends) are. I've shot a few grouse over the years but that's it.

Hi Brad, Around here we count every point at least 1" long. In the Western states some count as you do. They also call them 4x4, 5x5 etc. out West. :)

Hi guys, the P50 started out with the 3-piece ignition system and later in the model run was coverted to the 2-piece ignition. To my knowledge, the P50 series never had points ignition. It was only the P40 that had points.

My P50 is set up like a P51, with the two-piece ignition. I really like this ignition system. It seems super-reliable.
