Now for a change I have a question. Is the BP655 considered a Poulan or a Pioneer , it looks a lot like the big Pioneer P series like the P60-62 but its a darker yellow colour and the top air filter cover has the Poulan PRO logo on it.

Jerry since you started your quest, I had to come over here to check this out.

Nice looking saw for sure and I don't care what company lays claim to it! LOL

I have heard that these are very strong runners and looks like one that I would like to have in the collection.

Sorry about that, my typo 525
The P52 and 525 saws are hard to find. I remember when buying my P62HP
brand new it wasn't much more in cost and the p62 was about the same weight as a P52.
Did Pioneer have all their own molds for these saws ?? Were any parts from outside makers??
Who assembled the Target saws? They were Pioneer saws painted blue and used Pioneer up to the P65. It would be interesting to talk to some of the people who worked at the Pioneer plant.

Those are very good questions! I remember the Pioneer based Target saws but it seems like Target carried on with differnt saws after they did away with the Pioneer designed saws but I can't remember what ones they were.

Who owned Target? My guess is a Elux company.

As far as the other question, I would find it very interesting if Pioneer would have made every single part for there saws in house. That don't happen very often.

It really isn`t much in the looks dept, its been well used but it received a complete rebuild last spring and I am curious to see what is inside it, I can say it cuts with full power and even with a 33" bar and full chisel chain this saw does not slow up in 20" wood.

I see them go for a wide varience on prices. If they happen to be in excellent physical condition and at least passable running condition they may bring $500 Cdn. in well used condition I would think $200-$300. Cdn. I felt lucky to get this one as it seems to be in perfect mechanical condition.

The first one is my 1420, runs good but a little ugly until we paint. This one is a P62 I just got that runs great and only needs a top handle assy to be complete. It also needs a bath!

Two very nice Pioneers you have there, the 1420 is a little brother to my 1450, that saw was the last Pioneer I purchased new. The P62 is the top dog in the Pioneer P series saws and one serious wood eater.

Thank you Jerry, I find it to be a good hobby to collect and get them running. I am afraid that the CAD has a pretty good hold of me though, I need more! This site has been a great help and an invalueable source of info and parts.

I found a Pioneer P51 last week to add to my collection. Unlike the smaller saws like the P20, P26 and P40, the bigger ones are very uncommon over here.

The saw has nice compression, but unfortunately the coil is missing. Since these parts are difficult to find, especially in europe, I am also calling on some members here to see if they can help me find a coil if possible. Anyone having a lead on one, please contact me by pn. All help is appreciated.

Well my deal came down today and I havent unloaded the truck yet, but there were some Pioneers in the bunch I got today. A couple complete ones and some boxes of parts.

I think ones a P41 I'll have to see what else is there.

Would a 400 be good find? I think thats what one is.
