OK, guys, here's some follow-up photos of the recently-acquired P-41 doing what it was designed to do. Dang it's a strong saw. Very impressed!
I think you'll be pleasantly suprised on the weight. My P60 is just a touch heavier than my Dolmar 7300.
Now if I could just get the SOB to run right. When we last left the saga of getting this thing running right, I was in the middle of a carb rebuild, after replacing fuel filter and lines. Still have a problem with missing/backfiring and dieing, after carb rebuild by amatueur hack (me). I got a puller today and checked the flywheel key as had been suggested, but no luck, it's in good condition.
Tomorrow I'm going to try resetting the coil gap after I put the flywheel back on, get another plug for it, I've tried two, but they were out of the same pack so could in theory be both bad. I tossed the original plug as soon as I got it due to a hatred of Champion plugs, or I'd have put that one back in.
Anything else I need to look into? This thing is starting to tick me off just a touch...

The 41 Western is a very nice saw, try a P60-62 or 65 and you are into big boy country, awesome torque saws.

Yeah I know this is the Pioneer thread but this saw is based on the P60 series. I still have a few feelers out for a P60.

Damn nice saw Jerry!!! I lost a bidding war on a P60 last night, it went for more than I could pay, but I wish I would have bid higher anyway.
I wonder who got it???? Hint, hint???

Randy I seen that one as well but this was a better deal for just a couple bucks more.

Dang thing was listed once with a reserve and the auction was closed.
I missed when it was relisted with the buy it now!
Must have been some :monkey: business going on there.
Yep, that would have been the better deal I believe. I wanted the P60 to sit next to my P50, I really didn't know about the 655s.
I still have so much to learn from you guys.
Great, I have more saws to add to "the list". LOL

You guys are a sorry lot. Have you no control over your addictions? LOL.
All I can say is it's a good thing spare cash does not come my way easily or I would be in the same boat.
Note. A little off topic but thought I should mention it here as it is somewhat related to the Pioneers. The Hus-Ski early snowmobiles are having a get together this coming February in Alliston, Ontario.
There will be some machines there that were powered with the Pioneer RA,this is the setup that was originally used for these machines.I'm a little to far away to go and have a look but maybe some of you Ontario boys could take it in.I think that would be something to see.Imagine, ride your machine out to the bush, cut trees for the day with the motor that powered you to your work site.

Looks like it was intended to protect the bar and the bottom of the saw from wear, no protection to the saw body from stuff dropping on it, may help prevent roll over. The liquid in the tank might provide some ballist.
