I have two of those cases. They're great for carrying your saw around and are not too bulky. They catch all the drips and provide a nice bar cover which slides out or locks into the main case. You can pull out the bar oil container and put your files and guide underneath. Also, you can screw the case down onto a board like I did on the front of my quad and carry it around like that. I have my other one in my RV. I love them and recommend them. Just more great Pioneer engineering. PS, the plastic is very durable.

What's the word on carby parts for the OMC carbs on a 750/850/etc...? I expect nothing is out there and I may have to learn a new set of skills. How about seals and gaskets? These old Pioneers are rather new to me and I haven't the foggiest idea where to start looking.

Got this 850 enroute.

I need a part number for a Pioneer 1450 reed valve assembly. I visited a shop today that used to be a Pioneer dealer, and he has lots of NOS parts, but didn't have a book to reference the part numbers. He did have a parts book that pre-dates the 1450. He has a "gold mine" of nos Pioneer parts, but not sure he has what I need. Thanks for any info!

The 1450 part number for the reed assembly is, 471708

Thanks!!!!!! You are the Man!! Now, if it's in one of the bins, we will find it. Let me know if you need any parts, and I'll check when I go. They will be cheap. This old guy still runs a 650, so he may be conserving some parts for it, but anything else is gettable.

Silly question:

Is the flywheel nut on the P60 3/8-24 thread? The reason I ask is that when I pulled the flywheel, I seem to have misplaced the nut. I think my puller may have mushroomed the end of the threads a bit, and I can't get a nut started on it. Just need to make sure I have the right die to clean it up before I F#$% something up.

Yes, 3/8 24. Should be standard right hand thread. I do have 3 P50's that are all 3/8 24 left hand thread on the flywheel side. All my other Pioneers are standard on the flywheel. Not sure why this is, but the P50's were early models. 1974

Thanks Ed - I always check for LH threads, after owning an old IH pickup with LH threads on the left side lug nuts. Gotta find the tap and die set and get to it this weekend. I emery clothed the magnet and pickup, and will work on the reed/reed cage as well. It does have a small air gap when closed due to wear, I think I can file it flat, otherwise will have to stick it in a mill and machine the cage nice and true. Hope this combination gets her running!

Pioneer P60

I found myself a keeper. I was really excited when i found this on cl, it was 2 hours away. The guy was nice enough to meet me almost half way. It's in fantastic shape. It's got a brand new loop of 404 chain on a 24" pioneer bar. It also has some very thin rings, I would like to find a new set to install before these fail . When this blizzard passes I'm going to properly introduce it to some big elm trunks that have been sitting around for a while.

Kevin- nice saw! If I found one of those it would complete my line of 6 cube Pioneers. Looks to be in great shape, how's the cylinder?

I agree. That looks like a dandy. The extra sticker on top?? Has someone changed the reed?? You'll need a 32 or 36 to make work. It will play with the 24

As the old lady who watched me as a child would say...."Lawd, Child!" That sho is a purdy saw!!!!!!!
