There are two different covers for the RA`s, one has both the medallion and the chrome Pioneer logo and the other just has the cast in Pioneer name in raised letters on it.

Mine had both at one time but the lettering is gone. Someone put a screw through the center of the medallion to secure it. I filled it in with JB weld and will mount it with silicone.

Yep,..I see a lot of listings like that on eBay these days.

Yep, same here. Some people will if you ask nicely. I just got a 372 top end that said only ship to USA, most of the time I see them say they get neg rep for the shipping taking too long.

Though that RA listing the guy says in the description is HUGE letters
USA ONLY!!

Who owns the Pioneer chainsaws tradename? Is it still a registerd trademark/name? could it ever be restarted?

I see someone had a pioneer saw page on facebook,But it has been removed,

I know when case ih become part of cnh the case part was sold to landini? and the tractors were rebadged as mcCormacs,That was a name from case ih's past that cnh sold to landini

I heard that Pioneer likely is owned by EMAB that is the parent company of Husqvarna. Last I heard of Pioneer was back when it was taken over by Poulan that in turn was taken over by Husqvarna. If this not currently correct anyone with updated info feel free to add to the saga.

Field expedient they called it in the army. Whatever works.

I use a loosly fitted zip tie on my saws without high speed idle latchs. My little red Homies and Poulan tophandles.

Your a cold guy.

Sorry man,..its not that I havn`t tried to find you a cover but in my searches I just keep finding complete restorable saws with nothing much wrong with them. I did find one parts saw but you guessed it,..the top cover and air shield were all that was missing. The fellow that has the 25 covers still won`t budge and sell one so I have struck out around here.

Ya! For sure. But only ships to USA. Go figure a Canadian saw that I can't buy!! LOL

Sure you can, get off your wallet and have it sent to me. I'll then send it to you. Even if it is a pain shipping to Canada:hmm3grin2orange:

I would do that though.

I had a American made Poulan shipped back to the USA not long ago so I think its only fair to give you guys one of yours back.

Jerry from memory and not going back to look it up, Electrolux bought Poulan just a little before they did Pioneer. Husqvarna wasnt buying squat back then, they had just got bought themselves.

I understand. It's just that my very good running RA with great compression is worthless without a top cover. I plan on restoring it, but without a top cover it's a no go. I guess that I could start the rebuild and maybe once someone sees how beautiful it turns out they will be willing to send me a top cover to finish the project.

I have never been too shure who bought what after Poulan sort of merged with Pioneer and the Poulan PRO series came out, after that I gave up on Pioneer as a saw to really cut wood with and went on to better machines for dropping trees.

I know there is a lot of great running or capable of a great running RA`s out there that need covers, what ever happened to all the old worn out, broken/ split and otherwise damaged RA`s?

I just don't understand what happened to all the top covers. I can see a few broken ones that got thrown away, but damn. It's pretty big, so there is no way you could lose it.

Thanks for the offer, really!! But I don't need it that bad. Got too many projects.

Another RA without a top cover. Apparently those top covers are hard to find. I heard a story of a guy that had one with the fabled `medallion` that he traded straight up for a 10% share in Microsoft. Probably an urban legend. Legend has it he misses the top cover.:smile2:

I know a guy with a spare cover without the medallion if you need one. Get Jerry to post a couple more pictures of his restored RA and I `ll see if I can get the guy to part with the cover.

Stinkbait,
I'm gonna let you in on a secret. The "guy with an extra top cover" in my post above is me. I was expecting a PM from you. PM me an address and I can get a cover headed your way. It's a shame to have a fine running RA without a top cover.
