yes it will work , just the emblem will be diff. edit am a dumb a$$. i went and looked at the fuel caps. i'll go back down and look again in a bitt.

yes it will work fine . looks like alott of the pioneer's take the same cap's . this would have gone quicker if some of the pioneer experts
"of which i am not" chimed in. :msp_rolleyes:

Bryce (customchainsawparts on feebay) has many NOS Pioneer bars. If you don't see what you want in his listings, contact him and ask if he has what you want.

Thanks, what about the rim? Is it just a standard Oregon rim?

You sure are an expert. Thanks to you and Lee for the ID on the saw.

I have 50+ years on the Pioneer 600 series saws, have torn down and rebuilt litteraly hundreds of these saws. The 600 was my fathers first new chainsaw, it became mine when I became 13 years old. The first saw I ever got to cut with was the IEL Pioneer RA that belonged to my mothers family, have kept that saw ever since.

I just love the looks and sound of the 600 Pioneers (especially some of the ones you have Jerry :msp_biggrin:). Thinking of eventually diving in to a restoration if I can find a decent runner.

With parts being scarce, is there anything special (weak spot) on these saws to watch out for?

None what so ever, just make sure there are no missing or broken magnesium parts and the bore is not badly scuffed up. Parts are not really all that scarce for the 600 series yet if you know where to look but there is not any one fully stocked parts dept for them either. They are a labor of love to own and restore and for me a rewarding pass time. I get to run them also, even today at -15C I will be starting up my oldest RA to use it as a test bed for a recent carb overhaul.

Thanks. A nice time consuming project is what I'm looking for. I really enjoy taking saws apart and cleaning them. Next step is I'd like to try my hand at painting.

I'm going to keep my eye out for a decent running "ugly" duckling.

Them old Pioneers had some nice lines for sure.

And no need worrying about plastic.

Them old girls look mighty fine in a new dress!

There are still plenty of them out there and usually quite reasonably priced. I have seen prices go up for them on eBay but on Craigs List, we have Kijiji here, same thing as Craigs they sell for peanuts. Finding spare parts in good condition plus the shipping is what drives the costs up for restoration. I have so much money invested into my restorations that it would be impossible to ever recoup what was spent but I don`t do it for the money, just the satisfaction.
