Sorry I must have read it wrong I thought the sprocket was used up. Too much exhaust fumes today. When I think of a 28" hard nose I automatically think of .404 or 1/2 chain, I forget about 3/8 sometimes. I would recommend the 28" then sense he has a 20" bar off his 610 as a back up.

Didn't your momma tell ya that the exhaust fumes from an old Homelite devours brain cells? :poke:

That is the other reason I was thinking 28" bar... I already have the 20" bar.

28" hardnose it is. I'll see what chains I have. I believe the 28" hardnose takes an extra drivelink over the 28" sprocket nose. Ron

I only have one 93DL chain and it is down to it last sharpening. I'll just send you a check with the bar and you can order a chain from Bailey's. Ron

Wow, used that set up a bit, did you? :) Thanks! Tha would be great. :) Hmm... what chain do I need/want... 93 DL... I'll probably end up with an Oregon chain. I've had good luck with the one on my 610. Sharpens well and holds the edge pretty well too. YAY!!! A big saw with a big bar!! :msp_w00t:

Sounds good! Certainly a good feeling after all that work you've done. Break it in and let'er rip.:cheers::cheers:

It certainly sounds good, and it sure does feel good to fix something. :) I was actually surprised at how I did not get all angry when something went wrong. It's nice to have something go well. It'll all continue to go well. (knock on wood)

When I'm working on a car, I usually rip off all kinds of unpostable words... :msp_mellow: Sometimes, things just have to go better than you thought it would and it is nice when things do so.

Man what a guy, I'll send you a check!!
610 take a look at Baileys site, they have nice close up pics of the cutter, in their ads. I REALLY like oregon LGX, it comes out of the box with a very aggressive hook shape on the leading edge of the cutter. Just my .02!
Are you serious about wanting a 610 parts saw. PM me. I've got a boxed up one that came from the ol FIL. I got it running yrs ago, stripped for cleaning, then left it.

Well guys, I got a video for ya! :blob2: I cut two of the biggest pieces of firewood we had that we split. Needless to say, the chain is very sharp, and the saw is 82cc... the wood didn't stand a chance. :) It will be in the next post, again, it has to upload.

Again, thanks Ron!!! :) Someday, I'll have to buy you a beir. :)

Well guys, having a little technical difficulties loading the video... I will get it up ASAP. I think I have to go back into the editor to change the format of it.

Here it is!! Like my shoes? :D As for handling of the saw, I can do better, but I am not used to cutting this close to the ground. I usually have a round clamped in a borrowed wood splitter.

It sounds good. :msp_thumbup: Isn't that small tree in the background in the way of something? :msp_biggrin:

BTW I was going through my SP81 box tonight and remembered that it is missing the trigger interlock / fast idle parts. If you have any of these parts left over from your build and if you can spare them it would help me out.

Ron

Sure, I can send those your way. Do you want the complete (corroded) tank or just the trigger assembly? That 'small' tree has been there as long as the house has. No, that Maple is not in the way of anything, other than the camera's view of most of my stacked firewood. :msp_biggrin:

I went out to the barn to check on the saw, and it leaks gas. :( No idea where it's coming from. I know the tank is good, it does not have any leaks.

Is the fuel line hole where it enters the airbox a common leak point? I even put some Ultra Blue RTV on the airbox side of the fuel line to seal it when I brought it in yesterday after running it. Did I do that wrong?

Half of the gas leaked out. :( There goes the good premix. :bang: Can anyone point me to a good place to start looking for a leak?

Are you sure it leaked? These critters have a high burn rate. I believe the tank is bigger than a 700 but mine will go through a tank of fuel a lot quicker than my 700.

The fuel line should seal to the tank on it's own. Is you air box dry? If it is then check the tank for a pinhole leak. I got the tank off eBay but never checked it. If it has leaked 1/2 a tank you should be able to spot the residue trail since you cleaned the saw before putting it together. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Thanks for the trigger parts. Ron

Yeah, it leaked... there was fuel all over the work chair I have out there. Barn smelled like premix, strongly too. The airbox was wet. Is that little hole where the fuel line comes in the culprit then?

I will get the trigger parts into the mail soon, tomorrow if I can.

I gotta pull the rear bumper off of my mad Max as the subframe that it mounts on is completely rusted away, allowing the bumper to wiggle up and down... hopefully the instructors at my welding class will help me make a new subframe for it to mount on and help me put it back together. More work, lol.

My poor Maxima doesn't deserve to rust like this, it only has 174,000 miles on it and the engine runs almost perfectly, heck it doesn't even move or shake while idling. I am starting to wonder if I'll be able to save the body at all. :(

After that, I'll get you trigger parts off of the old tank, and then I will hopefully have it in the mail. Then I'll work on finding that leak on my saw. Hopefully it'll go better than I think it will.

The tank leaked to the half point, right. so put just 4-5 oz. of fuel in the tank and place the saw on a clean carboard sheet and let sit overnight. In AM follow where the leak started by the traces on the cardboard. It could be from the fuel hose hole, or the tank split.

If it's from the tank split, how could I fix that?

I really hope that fuel line hole is the culprit... I did not seal it that well, I don't think, as I did after all of the crap was installed into the airbox. Is the best way to seal that done by putting some RTV around the hole when the fuel line flange is not pulled against the inside of the tank, then pulling the fuel line through and causing it to squeeze some RTV out both inside and outside the tank?

Did you use a new fuel line or reuse the old one? Most likely it's the fuel line hole leaking because of the way the 81 gas tanks are sealed it would be hard for one of them to leak at the seam. I have heard that you can take some teflon tape that you use on pipe threads and wrap a few rounds around the fuel line where it goes through the tank and it will help it fit tighter and seal.

Use the right line, or at least the right size. My shop teacher taught me If you don't have the time or money to it right, how you going to find either and both to do it again?
You'll have retune after the leak is repaired, its running a bit richer than set right now.
Sorry to hear about the Maxima. Transplant an option?
