Thank you sir for answering my question. By ausneil 1s coment on being a jack of all trades i wonder if thats being a little modest.
Watching chainsaw racing is interesting and i have seen guys talking to the crowd and answer questions if they are near the barrier fence.
Is the competition fearce and agressive toward each other or are they just mates racing each other for the hell of it.

Yes, he's being a tad modest.

Neil is a multiple NSW and Australian Chainsaw racing Champion and might know a thing or two about timber too.

He even talks to and helps out numb nuts like me that know sweet FA.

Not unusual for Stihl dealers to have absolutely no idea on what Stihl Australia is doing. I've tended to know more about Stihl's new saws etc than Stihl dealers have...
Ben (Benn*e? on AS) here is pretty switched on though but he actually likes chainsaws. Most Stihl dealers class it as a job more than a passion like we do.

If that's Ben from Angaston SA, then yes he is a great bloke. He used to help me out with parts and stuff down in SA and he actually knows his product. He collects chainsaws too :msp_thumbup:

I had a chance to go to the Crows nest show today which included chainsaw racing. It was a great show and the sound of modified chainsaws was even better.

A few pics of what I saw....

I am also uploading some videos but that will take a while.

090 races - notice all the smoke in the air... no mossies in a 100ft radius

I should say who's in that vid for those who do not know them..
looks like U100cc modified production class (visualy standard)
1st out Will Hutchins qld
2nd Trevor Baker qld
3rd Nigel Newett qld
4th Brice Pearce qld

thanks rick and matt for those kind words, rep sent

sorry rick, no go on the rep, next time

I had a chat with Brice I think it was, the young fella in the blue shirt. He was quite knowledgeable about his 088 and the mods on it. I'm sad I missed the post ripping though... that would have been a great race to watch.

Some serious 090 action... I think I need one of these haha

And numbnuts like me too. I find his information very interesting and he sounds even busier than me :) I wanna get up that way for a butcher's hook as soon as possible...

That's the guy. He's about bloody 6' 10" as well. Lucky his Roll-lux is jacked up about 10" so it's an easy entry/exit for him :D

Hey thanks for the vids and stuff too :)

I've been trying to hate you Neil for all the chainsaw action you're getting. I really have but alas :D The thing I like about the racing you do is that it is mostly practical, not just zing, zing, and zing. Although zing, zing, and zing is cool as well. You'll be getting a package soon mate to go nuts on
I'm also happy that you couldn't rep Rick. He gets a fat head with any form of praise...

I included that video for you Matt, it was the only husky that actually won something.... haha jokes

But yes I felt comfortable with the stihl/husky ratio at the races :msp_biggrin:

matt i like huskys ya just stand there and swear at em ....

all i did is swear at it for a minute then two days later it would still not rev and it was way rich would not do over 7000 so out came the air hose for a good clean up before the tools came out
then i thought give it another go and away she went and today i put 2 tanks through it and thats more wood than 2 tanks than a 066 let me tell ya, but i found one thing to replace the plug lead it has worn through in two places and has a fair amount of bear wire showing but that will have to wait till i'm in town mmmm the old man has got a lawn mower naaa better not
cheers

Never underestimate the power of swearing. It really shows those saws who's boss. Now stop playing with the H jet and go cut sumfin :D Oh and let me say again 066/660's are most definately fuel hogs...
