Well he may not have been at it long but I've put at least 100 tanks through that saw trouble free. And it pulls as hard as a 562

Hello Dave from Mittagong, haven't seen your name here before.
What revs under load is that ported 550 pulling or a simpler question, what revs is she running at freeload ?

I never even tried to stay with them, I just take a little notice to the more known boys and ignore the rest, as you said Matt, way too many these days.
Sometimes it get a little amusing with the ''2's and fro's'' and the ''my port jobs much better than theirs'' but I guess its the modern way.
Much better to stay in the shadows and be a no body.

Don't forget the T Shirts Neil. Oh and stickers.

14000rpm which is on the limiter. But it definently holds a lot more rpm in the cut than a stock 550.

Why would anyone pay $400 to port a 50 cc chainsaw when they can buy a 60 cc chainsaw for under half that extra and it will obviously outlast a ported saw as it is not as stressed?

The logic is lost on me....
A good port job should last as long as a stock saw as far as I'm concerned. And some people like the weight of a little 50. Especially when climbing or limbimg. They make a great little firewood saw I reckon as there is not that much the average person cuts that is over 16".
Point is you might think different if you tried one. It flat out rips

Hi Hort ******s! Just checking in.
John

I'm starting to take this personally John. I assume you know that my day job is as a "Horticultural Agronomist". Therefore "Hort" for short. Then you have the gumption to follow up with "******". Therefore I can't help but feel vilified here.

I never thought of it like that. I for one, will not **** a hort.

And I have been a member of AS for quite a while but I've never posted in the Aussie dribble thread.
I see David, well I guess there is more to AS than this little hidey hole, we like it but its not everyone's cut of tea.
I personally am not a fan of the little toys, but they have their place and are handy for sure.
Everyone to their own choice.
So if you sell the 550, what is your next choice of saw ? just curious that's all.

Haha hidey hole is one way to put it, there really is so much on this site that's for sure.
And I have a few saws I would like to own. My favourite saw I do own is a real tidy 98 model 046 magnum. It really goes so well for a stock saw.
But my next saw will be a ms661 I think. Or a 390xp so what's your saw of choice mate.?

Yeah I heard similar. But I'm thinking depends on who ports it and maybe as it's still new it may need more testing time. Brad snelling has a video of one he ported and it seems quite a bit more punchy than standard.
