Well, I looked further into the pruning of the eucalyptus stands...
It appears a small company contracts to prune them and engages subbies to do the work.
They are paying $1.00/tree for the first lift, which means anything you can reach by hand from the ground. The second lift they weren't sure what they'd be paying.
But here's the catch. It all must be done by hand, nothing motorised allowed as they are worried that the trees may be damaged.
Now I've done a little bit of pruning in my time and a good day going flat knacker would have me doing 200-250 trees/day, and I'd be stuffed....
The sums don't add up unfortunately.
