I don't get it, my sister sent me a text this morning "can you help me pick up a freezer from Scone ?"

That's 40km away and it's pissing down rain.

I just rang her and asked how she was going to keep it dry.

"why ?"

So the electrics and electronics don't get wet.

"Is that a problem ?"

Umm, yeah

"Can't I just let it dry out for a day ?"

No

"why not ?"

Sheesh........

Can't we do it another day ?

"oh, I was supposed to pick it up two weeks ago..."

sound of hand slapping forehead of shaking head........

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Haha sisters, I had to help mine with buying bedroom furniture in Adelaide - she didn't want to drive a fully loaded ute in the "city"... but towing horse floats and big trailers is no problem :msp_confused:

Oh well, what can ya do hey...

My first road registered car was a '74 Jeep CJ6 that had been flogged on a farm for most of it's life and it still had the genuine Jeep Australia fitted 15x8 Sunraysia wheels, the original ones that had the centres cut from 3/8" plate and the spokes directly welded to the rim.

Hey Rick, did that CJ have the 258 in it? Those engines seem to go forever, my first road reg car was a 72 Jeep Wagoneer, chopped the back half off and turned it into a ute, got me around during HS, couldn't get stuck with it.

First car I learned to drive was a 26 T Model Ford, after learning on that anything was easy to drive

We used to have a Jeep Gladiator with a valiant? 6 back in the day. That was a serious truck... used to carry 2tons no problem and go anywhere with it. It even towed a bowl scraper down the highway once, the cop wasn't sure what he was looking at so he let us go. Oh yeah, and it was thirsty!

They weren't the purtiest p/u going but they sure did the job, the 258cc straight 6 was an AMC motor, my brother had a few of them over the years in his CJ's and the old man had one in the Eagle he had, we were an AMC family for a long time when I was growing up.

Went like stink and he was silly enough to give me a test drive with him riding shotgun one day.

Man screams aren't very becoming :hmm3grin2orange:

I'm hearing ya Rick. When I was about 18 a mate came home late one night from the pub with another guy in his HG Monaro. The road I lived on was long and straight apart from some S bends right in the middle signposted at 45kph. He tells me that this guy in the Monaro took them the previous night at 140kph. I called BS and said jump in my mini. I'd only ever taken them at 120kph so wound her up to 130kph and even managed to stay in my own lane. At the time I was running a whopping 10" Contessa rims with Yokohama A009 tyres (awesome grip) and suspension sitting on the rubber bump stops. He squealed, went white, then agreed that there is no way his mate in the Monaro could have done anywhere near that. I never had the heart to tell him that I nearly sh*t myself as well because his extra weight actually made quite a difference to it's handling and for a split second I pictured us shooting off the end into some orange trees...

I've been driving an AMC on my X-Box 360 in Forza 4. Really nice car ;)

Actually I had to laugh at my local golf club a few years ago. This young kid about 13 rocks up with all new clubs and an attitude. After about 3 games in a row, spending 90% of his time in the trees, and carrying on like he know it all he finally says "This is a lot harder than Tiger Woods on the X-Box". We all pis*ed our pants laughing and he hasn't been back since. He was serious too which is the saddest part.

Ooh Will and Rudi, I think I'm developing some man crush's :msp_wub:

We were a Jeep family through and through.

When I was a kid in the seventies Dad had a Wagoneer, we went all over Australia with it, then he bought a second hand J20 (Gladiator) as a work truck, and eventually I bought it off him, so I had the CJ with the 232 (but I bought a 258 crank and rods and was working over a head for it, I still have a set of Sealed Power forged pistons stashed away somewhere) and the truck with the 258, headers and a 2.5" exhaust, Dana 44 front diff and Dana 60 in the rear.

Unfortunately it was eventually replaced with an F100 which was a great rig, towed my race car everywhere but had no where hear the character of the Jeeps.

Dear old Dad was mortified when I bought the Defender but was placated a little when I told it felt like driving a CJ, rattles, leaks and everything :D

Well, we didn't buy the freezer.

Supposedly 18 months old, $200 but it was still running R12 ??

Everyone went "oh" when I informed them that R12 was phased out in '91 to '93, so this old girls was at least twenty years old.....

It wasn't even on, so we got it plugged in and after fifteen minutes the frost line hadn't moved past the top shelf (coiled shelves) so either the capillary was over-restrictive or it was short of gas, and I wasn't hanging around for another hour just to see what it'd do.

Lucky she has a fridgey for a big brother.

I had just enough time to sharpen a chain and block enough wood for three days before it stated pelting down again after we got back.

C'est la vie.....

Yeah, what is the go with all the rain on the weekend... I had planned on getting the karcher out and clean some saws, maybe next weekend aye :eek:uttahere2:

Oh dear, I have too many stories like that to share

How the hell I survived to 23 or so I'll never know.

That is funny.
I'm wondering how many kids have done the same thing with the X-Box and tried to turn some laps at the track ?

BTW, Jum Richards is building an AMC Javelin for the Historic Touring car series.

The Javelin was one cool, under-appreciated Muscle Car.

Good work. Now wait for it to spin the nut off inside and fly apart :)
Been there, had it happen :(
Also that burr doesn't make much difference although the finished result does look nicer off the grinder. I had a MAXX grinder with the old outside in grinding function but quickly realised it was a bit of hype sadly - oh and a POS...

I have never owned a car, only 4x4 so the only experience I have with fastish cars was my mum's VR6 Golf. And yes I got a BIG speeding fine. 5 more km/h and I would have lost my licence in one go.....lucky I had backed of and dropped about 50km/h when they gun'd me.

Those early Rangies werent as bad mechanically as everyone thinks. If looked after they were pretty simple and ok design for the most part.

Oh and Sisters, only good for one thing.................make sure you've got the hole dug first.
