agree my 1st aid has them as well as baby nappy they are thick clean fast to apply and have sticky tabs set to hold for any hurt that needs big blood control and presser add to this a chemical freeze ice pak that will take away impact pain and and may help keep a digit amputation iced allow it to get the refitted.

Well i never heard of people keeping tampons and meds in thier first aid kit.
Learnt something new today
Almost sounds like you'se are coming out of the broom cupboard so to speak

Yeah accidents do happen but since i have been offshore, since 94 they shove safety down ya gob
Its not soo bad as some of the things i have done at home, most would cringe at doing but i think it out before i start and calculate the risks.
When people tell me they had an accident, most of the time , was it an accident from god or poor planing, communication on their part that has accumulated into an accident .
Especially when you retrace the chain of events prior to the accident.
The best case scenario is to think, what is the worst that could come from this job, and work backwards from there.
If working with others, make sure everyone is on the same page as yelling dont usually accomplish much but piss the other guy off.
Anyway, hope you'se dont need them tampons any time soon :msp_thumbup:

yep most of the time an accident is nothing more than stupidity (most of my stuff ups were years ago)

Most people are not aware of the planning and strategic thoughts that go behind most activities. Especially chainsaw racing. Neil and myself are always thinking, considering and watching for potentials. In saying that, Neil will complete a risk assessment for each site that our club participates in/on. During the past 20+years that I have been involved with the club, there has not been any reportable accidents with chainsaws. We have public liability insurance in case a member of the public is injured from our activities, but members cut at their own risk.
Any behaviour that could potentially end in an accident or injury, we are usually right on it, hence this is why we started practice days to demonstrate and give learning to those who need corrective actions. With Neils experience and my former instructor/assessor in the RFS, we have covered things fairly extensively.
In talking with others involved in the club as members and competitors, they have had no idea of the lengths we take for safety.

Anyway, play safe, stay safe. Thinking things through is not hard. I hate hurting myself so I always think before doing these days.:msp_w00t:

Well said Bigfella.

This should make some debate happen..

Mate, working offshore, I know about planning.
And still we killed two workers in September. The media was full of it with their story, no one would tell them what was happening so they said they would put in what they thought had happened. It was not the guys fault but certain Austrailan personel.
I wont go into it on open forum.
It was not much fun at a work mates funeral, he was 31 with a 9 year old stepdaughter and an 8 month old daughter.
Watching her throw a rose on the coffin while it was being lowered brings it home to the hardest guys.

I have seen companys get away with manslaughter up here saying it was an accident BULLS#IT
Tell me how much time you really save cutting corners when you have an accident or kill someone.
We were shut down for 6 weeks, and I wont say what the day rate is for an offshore oil drilling rig, work boats, helicopters and shore based personel Big dollars
So to my earlier post guys, just think about what you or your crew are up to. It may seem foreign to them but eventually it will pay dividends
Remember the old buildings in Canberra, where the spectators gathered opp Lake Burley Griffin and the young girl was killed by a piece on concrete.
Imagine if it was your child
There are reasons we all gome home at night hoping to be in one piece.
Sorry for my rant, I hope you guys never have to use those first aid kits.
Aint much fun being injured

Yes interesting. Abbot is a goose. Bring back Malcolm Turnbal, sorry if i got his name wrong but he is worth 250 milloin and has far more idea than Abbot.
Remember how many the Libs slashed till they got to wingnut.
Shame as i liked Turnbal.

Unfortunately I think that they are all as bad as each other.

We changed a few years ago from an inept corrupt labour govt to an inept liberal govt. The first thing the Libs did was audit the books, and then when they discovered the hole that the labour govt had left them, went on a slash and burn trip through all our essential services, and cut things that we thought would be basic entitlements for taxpayers. I will guarantee that, if/when the libs win the next federal election they will do the same.

The downside of this approach is that governments have been cutting back services for over 20 years now, as well as selling off income producing assets in order to realise short term cash. I think we are close to the situation where there is nothing left to sell, and the cuts are to the bone.

If we applied todays rules to the past, then most of the major landmarks in Australia, ie Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House etc would not be built as they could not be "justified" or achieve "payback". There will be no great feats in this age. Our progress in this century will be a lot slower than it has been in previous centuries, because Australia has no visionaries in positions of leadership.

Governments dont have any money of their own.
It is all accumulated from the taxpayer.
When you have sold off the last asset, then appart from slashing services etc, the only other way up is increasing taxes.
The only major thing happening at present is the NBN.
Somehow i dont think it will be iconic like the Sydney Harbour Bridge or the Snowy Mountain scheme
If you wonder where todays money goes, well technology in hospitals have gone way ahead than 50 to 100 years ago.
People are living longer so the costs to Governments would he a lot higher today than years ago, plus more and better roads than 100 years ago etc.
Then dont forget all the baby bonuses, paid maternaty leave that was never around before.
And last but not least, we have to look after all these poor refugees who have never paid a cent tax in this country and need legal representation paid for by the taxpayer.
They burn a serious hole in the pockets of the everyday taxpayer.
I always find it frustrating when a legal company can represent boat people but no one gives a stuff about the poor old age pensioner who is having a run in with the local council or neighbours from hell.
I guess that is what happenes in this country when you have paid your taxes all your life instead of paying $25,000.00 to an illegal people smuggler.
I guess crime does pay.
Just ask Gillard
