Stuff like having books stacked up in the unit windows to block shrapnel, the house the family was living in being blown up and her husband seeing it from elsewhere etc.

I was their just prior to the war we were on the last commercial flight out of their my parents migrated from their in the 60"s gea I remember seeing the armies tanks etc scary sh@&! We can't even go back to our area as its riddled with land mines! Just imagine tanks lining up on a hill 500meters away! People here really dont realize how lucky we are, I think the immigrants from Europe had a mentality of how can we repay australia for a second chance where as the latest batch of immigrants think what can we get from australia!
