Oh what a day today, another scorcher, the above is self explanatory.

Yup 4X all the way :D

Hey Neil quick question, I got some nice logs I want to mill at some stage in the future and was wondering what I should paint on the ends if anything for seasoning? I keep hearing different things from different people.

nice ride mate, does the door make that OEM squeak at open and close and the LHS mirror rattle as you drive

yeah kinda mate, nice strong loud clack clunk sound as de door locks into its latch, an few bounces on the sofa seat to find the right spot

I use a dedicated Caltex wax based timber emulsion (not that I mill anywhere near as much as I'd like to!). Not cheap but does the job.
The other option is epoxy paint.

Morning Rudi, I use Timber sealer to stop end splits, its fairly dear (around $105.00 for 20 litres) but would be the best option for your needs.
Another portable mill owner I know uses old cooking oil (same as they use for making diesel) he splashes that on and claims it works as good as sealer. I have not used the oil yet but do intend to trial it next year as I have now acquired something like 3000 litres of the stuff from a guy who was making diesel but had a bad experience with it and gave up.

ps, Most fuel companies sell timber sealer (wax emulsion), I use Caltex but it does not matter which you use.

neil here is a link that may help you with your choice of veg oil you are looking for a drying oil, that is one with a high iodune value from the chart it would be soy and sunflower this is what most blended oils are com[posed of. You will find oils like canola ( IO value 90 ish ) difficult as it will resist drying, I have had spilled blended veg oil go to a tough plastic film on the top of a drum in only a few weeks in hot windy conditions. I have been making and using bio for 5-6 years in the mighty 2H engine with no breakdown whatsoever. good luck with it regards andy

Strong winds here last night, once again the local school fence was damaged it was repaired only 6 months ago.

Was up in Brisbane on Thursday, stopped in at Qld Gun Exchange on the way home. Had a quick look at the Tikka and Sako. I really like the Tikka except for the syn. stock. feels ok'ish but its hollow and I just dont like it. Shame, id be happy with a Tikka. So looks like ill have to do more hrs and save for a Sako.

I like that Dodge, could be a good candidate for a custom rod truck.
