Man that's nice Randy. Since you're the 'new guy' here.................you'e on BEER/Cigar run detail. If the boys throw PBR cans at you, they're just saying welcome....

The tribunal is chaired by His Excellency RandyMac, a pristine example of the breed, and an OGDF. All are tough to convince...

You can say that again. His excellency and Cliff bow Master made me serve drinks in the VIP bar for almost a year before I got an entrance ticket to the club....not to mention that rookie shirt they made me wear....grrrrrr. :taped:

No free tickes fo sure

I just got mine the other day so haven't been able to cut with it yet. But here are a few pics I actually posted in another area but should be here I guess. Are the Yellow top Supers the same as the black garnished examples, porting and all? :msp_w00t: It appears they all have full wrap bars on them that I have seen so far.

Since this thread got bumped I'll ask here. What should the ring gap be on a super 250? Looks like a chrome top ring and a cast 2nd ring. Old Mac info says .004-.012", some kart info for some of the 87cc motors says .007" minimum. Right now I have fitted a set of .010 over rings to .004" measured just below the exhaust ports, but I'm scared and won't put it together until I hear some imput.

Post this question in the McCulloch thread......you'll get a faster answer. .004 seems tight but should open a couple thousandths after run in.

The Super in Super 250

Some of you know I recently got a Super 250 the other day and haven't got to cut with it yet. Well today I went over in the woods and fired her up and went to my downed tree I haven't finished cutting up. I fired this saw up and started cutting and almost started laughing... Not because it was lame but because of the DRASTIC difference from my regular 250 to this Super. I was thinking holy crap this thing is bad ass... I couldn't believe how much more power this sucker had. It was like I put a blower on it and she was screaming... The more I pulled the throttle the more she wanted to be fed. This really is a whole nother animal I was impressed with it.

Thing is I don't think I am going to want to use the regular 250 anymore after using this saw today or it will be quite awhile before I pick it up again. Man you could feel the strong pull of the engine just wanting more fuel to put out more power. Yes I love this saw indeed!! I didn't have to give my left or my right nut for it but it's worth it from just a plain jane 250. Now both of my saws have the same compression so it was a good comparison between the two. As stated before here again this Super 250 has 125psi like all other saws I have bought. I don't know what it is but 125 seems to be the magic number when it comes to saws that I buy.

I did get that 440 the other day and it is stout. I know that saw has a lot more psi but I haven't hooked a gauge to it yet. But anyway now I know about the difference in the two saws. I was asking awhile back is there really that much difference between 7cc and the porting of the Super? And I would say hell yes there is a huge difference. If you don't have one and want one I would be looking and if one comes along at a good price BUY IT you won't be disappointed. Now I'll be interested to see how the 440 feels against the Super 250 beings both are 87cc. I don't know if the 440 has porting done to it like the 250 but I know it will be a good runner. :hmm3grin2orange:

Hey Nick,

You're going to get kicked out of the club before your probation is over if you are not careful. Lets just keep quiet on these (not so) little gems, lest the masses on the interwebs find out and start buying them up. Then I will NEVER find an 80cc yellow top to complete my Super collection.

Yours truly,

Class Clown

Ya know before I really started looking at these Super 250 saws and wanting one I do remember seeing one on fleabay not too long ago. It was a yellow top Super. From the little information I had I didn't think much of it being an 80cc and not 87cc. Now do these yellow top 80cc saws also have the porting like the later black top one's? I thought about it after the auction was over and told myself I should have probably bid on it but I wasn't aware they were that hard to find. I have started a small but growing collection of yellow saws thanks to the influence of this website and now I want a yellow top Super also. I'm still amazed at the difference at how much power that Super put out compared to the regular 250. I cut up that tree in no time. Helps to have a nice sharp chain mind you but the extra power also helped me rip right through that sucker.

Anyway now I wonder about other Super series saws. Makes me wanna get a few of the other's. Those Super 797 saws are going for over 600 bucks on ebay and thats in so so condition. I can't pay that much for a saw as I am on disability with a bad back, knees, and arthritus pretty bad but I can still run a saw with no issues so far. If and when the day comes I can't get out in the woods and run a saw I'll be pretty down and out. I am somewhat limited on what I can do but I have to have my mobility. So I am keeping my eyes peeled for other Super saws now if they fit the budget. Thing is I hope I don't get the fever too much or my other half will discover my addiction and see all the saws piling up and ask me where the money is coming from... I got a few addiction's and they all have the same consequence but it's fun... :msp_rolleyes:

There's a guy on the local CL here who's been asking $250 for a Super 250 for about 6 months now. It looks OK but I can for sure find a better deal. Dunno why he thinks it's worth so much. I can say that if a Super 250 is so much stronger than a regular 250, then I definitely need to find a Super 550 to compare to my regular 550, because that thing is awesome.

Hey buddy, take a ride over here and you can wrestle with this!
