Did you see the 3120XP for sale in the Trading Post? Someone using the name "Stihl User" is trying to sell his used saw for $1200. Cripes, I can get a brand new one for $1175

Leave it to a Stihl guy to charge Stihl prices. :hmm3grin2orange:

Yeah!?...the nerve...like when I go into Tractor Supply yesterday and they have 1 NGK plug in a Husqvarna blister pack for $4.95...I guess the local Stihl dealer is gonna go outa business cuz he's only charging $1.95 for the exact same item...

If he would have bought it from my local Husky dealer's he would have paid at least 1500.00 new..

They wouldn't care if he had a Stihl or Husky user name......

Hmmmm, I suspect you're comparing Husky rebranded plugs with regular NGK (non-Stihl rebranded) but I'll have to take your word on it. I decided to see how accurate your statement was, and drove on down to the closest Husky and Stihl dealers. (which are right across the street from each other! :ices_rofl: )

At the Ace Hardware Stihl dealership, they had no Stihl rebranded spark plugs. Also, and they only carried Champion plugs, $2.59 each.

At the Western Auto Husqvarna dealership, they also had no Husky rebranded plugs, but had both NGK and Champion, (and others) and while I was there, bought 2 plugs for $5.17 including the 6% tax.

There was one item where I could do a completely fair, side-by-side comparison though, and that was for a scrench. Stihl branded was $11.95, Husky branded was $5.95

RR I find that funny for I got a buddy that has a 3120 he's been trying to sell for months now for only 400.00, he can't seem to give it away. I guess the reason is because there isn't much call for a saw that big around here.
This 3120 for 1200.00 must be in good like new condition. I know prices on that big boy vary alot depending on where you purchase them but its about a 1400.00 saw isn't it? Ya don't guess that Stihl feller thought that 3120 would hold its value like a new condition 880 did he? A 880 in new condition though second hand would bring 1200.00 so that 3120 should too shouldn't? Hell I just sold a used MS200T for 400.00. Getting ready to sell a used MS360 for 400.00 as well and it won't be no problem at all.

Husqvarna Warranty

I am in the market for a large displacement saw for hobby milling use ;ie., non commercial use.(3120 or 880)
Husky offers a two year warranty; whereas Stihl Corporate will only stand behind their product for 90 days!!?? I like both, but must go for the one who will offer a realistic warranty. Initial cost is far less, AND a longer warranty.

A 3120 for $400?!?! If he'd put it on the Trading Post, it would have been long sold. Of course, you didn't tell him that, did you? Are you hoping he gets desperate, and trades it in for a song? ;) Yea, a used 3120 "should" keep pace with an 880, except for the fact that you can acquire a brand new one cheaper.

You're absolutely right, a 3120 or 880, unless you're in the PNW, has only one purpose, milling. That will definitely keep demand low.

Awwwwwwww so wrong. I wouldn't have the 3120 period. Not cause I got anything againist it but because I got a 880 already. Hell I don't need two of them big saws. He himself will tell you flat out Husky don't hold their value at all. He had a whole truck load of them, he owns his own tree service, and after problem after problem he sold them all cept that big 3120 of his. I should know for I sold him a slew of Stihl to replace all those Huskies he had and his problems disappeared altogether. I still think for 400.00 that 3120 of his is a good buy. If I didn't already have a 880 I'd might take it off his hands. That would be a good buy for a ole tight wad like you,LOL

I agree you can buy equal size Huskies cheaper than Stihl if you shop around. I think though if you walked into a real Husky dealer shop, not the net or mail order, you would find the prices on par with each other. The major differance is if something goes wrong you can take your saw right back where you bought, be Husky dealer or Stihl dealer. Over the net or mail its good luck and hope your not in any hurry getting it back. The average waiting period at Lowes I was told was 71 days. Heard that from a Husky owner of a 350 two weeks ago. I fixed it on the spot, sold him a Stihl,LOL Is it worth the extra cost to go dealer, Stihl sales have proven people think it is.

Sure is. A better warranty and a lower price too, man ya can't beat that with a stick. Have to wonder why though. Get one, you'll find out. Makes me wonder why I see Huskies in the ole Stihl shop, hmmmmm, maybe I'll start asking what happened to that long warranty. Warranty isn't worth a dayumm when they say its your fault it failed, not ours, sorry. That happens quite abit on that side of the fence. How do I know, that so called warranty is great for Stihl sales..

How do I contact him? Will he ship? What condition is it in? How many hours?

Check your PM's. I just called him myself and told him you was going to call him, he waiting for you to call right now...

That sounds like something a Stihl dealer would say. I've never seen an impartial person make a blanket statement like that, unless you're speaking of a specific model with specific problems.

Same goes for the guy that just bought the 361 and can't start it. What would be the difference if he went to the Husky dealer and said my pos 361 won't start and the dealer sells him a 357xp? Then the Husky man knows he just got the best saw in it's class(361) from a homeowner that could not start it properley.

Do you have nothing better to do then flame my sale??

You are a complete idiot to tell me that they sell for $1200 new. My dealer sells them for $1500 + tax ALL DAY LONG.

If you're going to be an ass screwoff  :buttkick:

Alright, I just read through all of RCR 3 EVER's posts, and nowhere did he say "all Stihl saws......" or any other blanket statement. Then you somehow speculate he's going to a Husky dealer and trading in. I don't recall RCR 3 EVER ever even considering Husky. Read Thall's statement again, perhaps you just missed it, so here's the highlights again: ".....whole truck load of them.........and after problem after problem he sold them all...........sold him a slew of Stihl...........his problems disappeared altogether." Remember, Thall claims he isn't biased towards and brand though. ;)

Sorry about the truth hurting, but facts are facts. I could buy your used saw without warranty for $1200 (plus shipping?), or a BRAND NEW one, also without warranty for $1175.93 shipped from Summit Power Tools.

What do you expect me to think?
