I don't recall RCR 3 EVER ever even considering Husky.
LOL, maybe now he can consider one. I'm sure Lowes will help him start that new 455 rancher:monkey:

Alright, I just read through all of RCR 3 EVER's posts, and nowhere did he say "all Stihl saws......" or any other blanket statement. Then you somehow speculate he's going to a Husky dealer and trading in. I don't recall RCR 3 EVER ever even considering Husky. Read Thall's statement again, perhaps you just missed it, so here's the highlights again: ".....whole truck load of them.........and after problem after problem he sold them all...........sold him a slew of Stihl...........his problems disappeared altogether." Remember, Thall claims he isn't biased towards and brand though.
That sounds like something a Stihl dealer would say. I've never seen an impartial person make a blanket statement like that, unless you're speaking of a specific model with specific problems.

Sorry about the truth hurting, but facts are facts. I could buy your used saw without warranty for $1200 (plus shipping?), or a BRAND NEW one, also without warranty for $1175.93 shipped from Summit Power Tools.
What do you expect me to think?
Got any "barn" pics Tom?
Do you have nothing better to do then flame my sale??
You are a complete idiot to tell me that they sell for $1200 new. My dealer sells them for $1500 + tax ALL DAY LONG.
If you're going to be an ass screwoff
Hmmmm, I suspect you're comparing Husky rebranded plugs with regular NGK (non-Stihl rebranded) but I'll have to take your word on it. I decided to see how accurate your statement was, and drove on down to the closest Husky and Stihl dealers. (which are right across the street from each other! )
At the Ace Hardware Stihl dealership, they had no Stihl rebranded spark plugs. Also, and they only carried Champion plugs, $2.59 each.
At the Western Auto Husqvarna dealership, they also had no Husky rebranded plugs, but had both NGK and Champion, (and others) and while I was there, bought 2 plugs for $5.17 including the 6% tax.
There was one item where I could do a completely fair, side-by-side comparison though, and that was for a scrench. Stihl branded was $11.95, Husky branded was $5.95
Walk in or mail order?
RR he said he his "dealer was selling them", not mail order, not net. Can you walk in a Husky dealer and really buy a 3120 with bar and chain for 1200.00, I doult it..
Not around here either. And why doesn't that new saw RR could buy come with no warranty? That puzzles me.

I don't really see your point.
You can purchase a New saw for this price, period. If you were to buy this guy's 2nd hand saw in the Trading Post for most of us it would be mail order.

It would have a warranty but for the most part only the place he bought it from would honor it. Dealers don't take a liking to the ole thing of "I'm good enough to work on your new saw but I'm not good enough to buy it from"
I myself wouldn't care but many outhere feel that way about net sales and then bringing it to them for repairs. I work on Stihl's no matter where they are bought but I have to razz em alittle with fun doing so, all in good fun of course.
So far, I haven't come across any dealer of Stihl or Husky where I can walk in and buy a 880 or 3120 for any price, without having to special order it and wait. So, by dealer, by internet sale, by mail order, or by private sale, I'm gonna have to wait, so why not buy at the best priced place?

As much as I hate going here again, this is bunk. You act as if the dealer is doing repair work for free. The last time I checked, there was a charge for their repair services, is there not? Charging a fee and doing work is doing no one any favors--it's simply good business practice. If a dealer doesn't want to work on my stuff because he didn't sell it to me, fine--I don't want him touching my stuff.Put yourself in their shoes, how would you react to the ole "I'm not good enough to buy from but good enough to repair deal because you bought that big saw from a place on the net to save over that dealer now repairing your saw?
Point is this Dan. That price you put up is a outfit from Canada. They would mail me the saw. Is it gonna run when I take it out the box? True most likely it will but for say it doesn't what do I do with it. Send it back, take it to a dealer and get told thats what you get for net buying. The dealer is the best place to buy a saw merely because you can take it right back if something isn't right. Conveinance is worth a tad more in most peoples opinion. Dayumm if I'm driving to Canada should that 1 in a 1000 saw have a problem, that saw would cost over 1200.00 for sure if I had to do that,LOL
It's one of those odd Husky things, where, because it comes across "the line" (Canadian border) it's no longer warrantable.
I don't have much faith in warranties anyhow, so they mean little to me. It's far too easy for the manufacturer to simply say it was abuse. Modding them out, with things like muffler alterations kills the warranty anyhow. As far as service goes, I'm happy doing my own, it's only an engine, not rocket science. So without service or warranty being an issue for me, there's little reason to buy right from a dealer.
But for anyone who's not comfortable working on their own equipment, I strongly recommend they buy from a good, local dealer.
