Tom,

I don't disagree with you at all, but that wasn't the point of this thread was it. This was all about the pricing of a second hand private sale saw vs a new cheaper saw off the net.

Welp look up Dan, I may have just explained it. I myself don't care where folks buy their saws, be net , mail order, box store or dealer. I only care about the ones that I take care of. I piddle with Huskies in the shop as well though I really shouldn't but I try to help out folks. RR I can tell is a price only buyer and thats fine, got no issue with that. He works on his own saws so he can get by without any help. Alot of folks can't and need us dealers and walk in conveinance. Thats my point. Its not worth it to RR but to many its well worth it..

As much as I hate going here again, this is bunk. You act as if the dealer is doing repair work for free. The last time I checked, there was a charge for their repair services, is there not? Charging a fee and doing work is doing no one any favors--it's simply good business practice. If a dealer doesn't want to work on my stuff because he didn't sell it to me, fine--I don't want him touching my stuff.

If its orange and white Space you will have no problem what so ever no matter what Stihl dealer you take it too. Try the samething with a net bought Husky and see who you wind up cussing. Stihl dealers don't have to worry about net undercutting like who???,LOL

Unless it's an Ace Hardware with no service department, huh.

Wouldn't know about Ace. I'm under the impression they do have a department, if they don't well that makes them just like who? One thing is for certain Space if you buy a Stihl at Ace and have a problem and take it back it will be repaired, free if under warranty and it won't be no 71 day wait like Lowes service centers. You also won't hear where'd you buy this saw from, it makes no differance.

Sorry Dan, I mis-read your post there. You are correct, it was about a private sale indeed. The man wants 1200.00 for the saw, simple as that. I didn't see anywhere where he said he would twist the arms of buyers. RR laffed about his price in open forum, was no need for that. Because the man used Stihl in his name RR took a pop shot cause he thinks anything to do with Stihl is overpriced. Thats why this thread got as far as it has. Other words that dayumm ole RR got to yaking Stihl is so high again and this time it was a Husky for sale. RR you should be ashamed of ya self,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

All Ace Hardware stores do have at least one tech. (at least they are required to)

There are more places than Lowes stores to get Husky's worked on.

Now the facts are straight. :D

:ices_rofl: See? I'm an equal opportunist, regardless of brand.

(I would have questioned the price regardless of user name, I just added the final sentence because I found it humorous)

Ashamed? I thought I was just blending in! :D

So true, there are many places. I don't understand why I'm seeing them come in the shop though and hearing them SOB's told me 71 days, screw that. RR I know you may not believe me and thats fine but two weeks ago a feller came in with a Husky that wouldn't oil. At the time I was on the phone with Ultra. He overheard every word that customer was saying. If you think I'm bias ask Ultra what this customer was saying about his own Husky. All I can tell ya on here is it was a good thing no women and kids were around, he was boiling hot after leaving Lowes and being told waiting time is 71 days. There are no dealers near me where he can take it. He's using a Stihl now, yes it was a easy sale indeed.

Well if you look at the date its been up for longer then its been sold. I don't know how to take it down.

They can start whatever they want, thats why I HATE these tree forums. No one on any of the landscapeing forms gave me ANY problems when I posted my stuff F/S there. Always seems to be that us tree guys are the toughest croud to deal with.

Point is, this saw has been sold, the seller has posted on here since telling another forum group that his saw was sold, but failed to mention it here. The above quote was his last post on the matter at the other site.

Karma is a ?????. Hate for any of you to have problems when you try and sell an item.

And yes the saw has been sold.

Say, aren't you also known as Jazak, the same guy who screwed Begleytree out some money, and asked to have your membership here terminated, and got your ban request granted? And yet, here you are again.

How about that. Looks like you're right about karma after all. ;)

BTW, how's your dad's business been going? Still earning him some bucks I hope.

RR I gotta ask ya something. Now Dan showed where you can get a 3120 for around a grand. The dealer is selling them for around 1500.00. Thats a 500.00 variance. Husky themselves are making something on that saw, most likely around 10% I guess. So looking at that huge variance and take another 10% off for Husky profit makes you wonder what that saw really costs to make. The 880 a dealer can't buy for 1200.00 much less sell one for that and Stihl I'm sure get their 10% so in all apparently the 880 costs alot more to produce than a 3120, would you agree to that?
That might explain why you won't find 880's going on the cheap..

Impossible to do any speculations here. It's all marketing anyway.
Here in Sweden, Stihl is waaaaaaaay cheaper than Husky, because we are in traditional Husky land. I would bet my a** it's the other way around in Germany. Here you can buy a new MS260 for 660USD. A new 346XPG will cost you 1200USD. Still, people buy the 346 because it's the ultimate 50cc saw, amen.

So you paid another $540 for the ultimate saw?

Not quite. I bought the 353 for a bit less ;) . But it's a much better saw than the old trusty 260. If I would have bought a 60cc I would have bought the 361 since it's much cheaper than a 357.
