If the cylinder is fine its not toasted, well worth fixing, send me that saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom you sure want that saw brahaha thing is I will either repair it or part it out. I bought it thinking three or so years with no problems and my funds are not great so its parked on my bench until I get the money to fix or decide to part out! I have the 192 and it has been a good little saw and is taking slack so I will be able to work it and save some funds to fix it or but the johnny I like. I will say the 200t was a good cutting saw and it got a serious workout in the ice storm and was worked very hard for those eight months. I was hoping for longer but then who doesn't. I am not trying to bash stihl here my saws get a thorough workout and sometimes have to cut many hours without much maintenance which may have ultimately caused it to go down.

I was talking about a bad walbro 199 on the 357xp. Saw is like new, hardly any use then starts idling weird. A little reading reveals husky knows all about the bad carbs but no warranty if after the time is up. They should have recalled them to take care of folks but they didn't.

Rope, send that ####er to Tommy. I want to know exactly what is wrong with it and I want to see you using the piss out of it again just for my own satisfaction. I'll donate $10 towards any parts required to show you I am serious. Think of it as a smart business decision. if Tommy can get her warrantied you can sell the thing and buy a jred if you really want but even if you have to pay for repair and then sell it as a 100% good running saw then you'd get more money than parting out or selling as a non runner.

I agree! :agree2:

C'mon Rope ole buddy. I'd like to see you get it fixed so you can start liking Stihl again! :biggrinbounce2:

I think I would definetly send it to see if it could be covered by the warranty for real though. Sounds like a good deal. You never know, it might turn out to be your fave saw.

What do you guys do to break them. I have several saws with flippy caps and there are several operators now, and with the lone exception of one guy laying the cap on a hot muffler and melting the oil ring (which still doesn't leak), I still haven't had any problems with flippy caps in 5-6 years, with original caps on everything.

I simply, stand in amazement, LOL.

I stand in awe also of your luck with them.

These caps seem like the chain tensioner on the Poulans. I had no trouble with it. Do I like it, no, but haven't had any trouble.

I think the people who have trouble are the types who say "If nothing else works get the hammer" Or "if you can't duct it f--- it!"

I have two saws with flippys, both seep some oil from the cap, neither leaks fuel. I'm not a fan.

Well, Let's compare them to a pop bottle. You unscrew the cap, pour and screw it back on and then some over engineering dork says, we can re-tool for millions and make a POS that you don't need a tool to remove.
"They leak some and break if your not careful but everyone will love zem".
What's the advantage to them? Just another piece of over engineered crap that works so so. I have never had to buy a regular cap that every chainsaw manufacturer uses. I did break a flippy cap. How many regular caps do you think Stihl sells? I have a 260 I'm going to dump because these caps are crap.
Way to go Stihl!

Do you hate flippy caps and why?

After filling, I just make sure to pull up on the rim with a fingernail to make sure it's seated. Also, a bit difficult to clean sawdust from the edges and some junk eventually makes its way into the tank and requires a clean-out. No leaks...yet. That's about it.
