Hmmm.. so we don't need $10M in liability insurance at the shop? I'll cancel it today! but to not trivialize what you are saying... it's not so much about "property" in the ope repair business. Personal injury from the use of an incorrectly repaired device, or "alleged bad repair" is not a trivial issue... nor is the legal defense you have to mount...

Ethics. BS. It MIGHT be a legal issue, not an ethics issue. Free county... and not everywhere demands insurance. And even where it is required, I bet half my so-called-pro customers have none. Here's an ethics dilemma for you - no assets. Why carry insurance?

So, is India unethical by being the largest IT outsource county in the world - taking about 270,000 USA jobs in the past 3 years?
As long as they are following ethical policies, no. Competition is not unethical. I don't think I've implied that it is.

Regarding insurance, since it came up. Sometimes you don't have the option to say, "oh, mine will cover it." Our daugther bonked her head while playing on her bed. No big deal, we just had to take her to the ER and have them take some pictures. The bill was significant enough that someone investigated, not for neglect or abuse, but to determine if someone else could possibly be to blame. Now we're talking an amount less than $2k. I'm sure if someone got hit sideways with a saw or fell funny out of a tree, ended up in the hos-pee-tal, that the insurance agency would want to know where exactly it happened and if they can go after a homeowner.

These are the things that get me nervous when a handyman or unlicensed tradesman gets above eye level on my property.

This thread has a question, let us see,
"Who's really qualified to cut a tree?",

Some here say that it takes a pro,
'Cause they're the only ones that really know,

Now ole Tommie says its OK to free lance,
Even though he wears not an arborists pants,

Then we start takin' 'bout insurance and stuff,
When we brought in the IRS, that is enough,

Tommie takin' jobs from Ohio,
Tommies in Virginia, don't think so,

But the BOTTOM LINE on cuttin' a tree,
Thanks G_D we live in THE LAND of the FREE.

lolololololololololololololol:laugh:  :ices_rofl: :ices_rofl: :ices_rofl:

The job is done...No harm to any human's or animal's...No damage to house or vehicles...... So it was a very good drop ...:D :D

THALL the offer still stands......Drive on up here ol-boy.....We can introduce you to the Hoe if you like..

My my my, you just keep getting better and better, good job there..

I don't see it as a double standard. Side jobs are not the issue, it's the lack of insurance that is the issue. Repairing saws does not require insurance, simply because most any repairman will be able to cover whatever negligible liabilty claims may result. Again, there is nothing wrong with doing sidejobs, so long as ethical business practices are followed. Say what you will, Thall is behaving in an unethical manner.

Dayummm Space I thought you was smarter than that. Didn't I tell you I wasn't a business and yet you say I'm running in a unethical manner. Now how can that be, hmmmmmmm. Regardless of whatcha think though makes no nevermind to me, I mean lets face it, who are you, do I know you, wink! I will say there is a differance between you and me however. If you go do some side work and make some pocket change like I do more power to ya, I say go for it, make all ya can. You won't hear me boo hooing your being unethical whether your insured, licenced, bonded or wear purple drawers and white socks, I simply don't care how much ya make on the side or how you go about doing it. Maybe your complaining about me because your not capable of taking down a tree here and there and making a few bucks the way I do, if so thats your problem, not mine. Practice ole boy, you'll ge the hang of it one day. If not give me a call, I'll show ya how its done, wink!

Lets looks at the hazards here,
First, no warning signs.
Second, the big "what if". What if thall damaged the sidewalk ?
Third , I don't know, but it looks like the tree also went onto the street.
Fourth, who is going to repair the damage to the lawn when the tree fell.

If you ask me, I think the Home owner took a great risk having Thall cut that tree down just to save a buck.
Now I'm not shaming Thall he was just a Hired Gun, Mercenary so to speak.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, yeah we estimated the damage there at 32 million dollars, I got my 300.00 and hauled buggy out of there,LOLOLOL

Ewwwwwwwwwww I must follow your rules, wanna know what I think of your rules, they may be yours but they aren't mine. BTW Space I have a rule too, if I want your rules I'll call ya for em, has your phone been ringing, didn't think so, wink!

Space give it up, your making a dayumm fool out of yourself. You make it sound as though I made 300,000 instead of a measley 300.00, good grief, are ya that upset over it. Jealousy killed the cat and it appears to be killing you with all these dumb assertions your making over a simple little side job. I simply don't understand all this hoop la your spitting out over a one hour job. The what if's, the licence, the insurance and on and on. Your in Tenn. if I recall and that means theres no way that tree could have possibly harmed you so whatcha moaning about. A plane could come crashing through your house tonite and wipe you and your whole family out, are you gonna sit and worry about it all nite, I don't think so. You wanna blow smoke about a one hour side job help ya self, I'll post many more to keep you puffing, hows that. I must admit it does make for good entertainment and if you wanna be the star I'll be glad to help ya...

hey the wheelbarrow is a warning:blob2: It is making people walk around it to get hit in the onion as they walk closer to see someone cutting a tree down.:buttkick: When I hear anything with a motor running I stop and look around....:jester:

For you ole boy only a Roys No.1 and a hot Folgers and we got a deal. No tree is safe, be sure to mark the ones ya want down and as for the hoe, hope I'm UP to it after work,LOLOLOL

Ultra, what size is it, 320cl or 315cl? :) :greenchainsaw:

320cl's are the small ones that they have... That one in the picture has a thumb and is used for building demolition..

we used it to take down a free pole shed at one of the demo sites... worked good to take the trusses down...

Dedicated to our brave soldiers!

I'm glad I was born in the USA,
Even with our laws and taxes to pay,

Free to go outside and breath the air,
Free to roam around and go anywhere,

Free to own a gun and speak your mind,
Free to read the paper or go online,

Free to do a job that doesn't fit,
Free to get fired and free to quit,

Free to join a firm and enter the rat race,
Free to do your thing and open your own place,

Free to stay away or free to go home,
Free to rent it, lease it, or even to own,

Free to choose a wife and have a family,
Free to be sad or to live happily,

Free to go shopping at the big mall,
Free to drink beer and play basketball,

Free to drive a car or an SUV,
Free to take a boat and live at sea,

Free to support Bush or maybe a Clinton,
Free to switch sides if you're ever bitten,

Free to drown your sorrows with the ole booze,
Free to leave this country if you choose,

But if you disagree, stay here I plea,
'Cause in our freedom, we cherish diversity.
