I'm thinking of ditching the 2100's current carb and finding the proper one.
I do have a good oil tank, manual oil, will be fine. I'll check for a spring.
That XL15 looks pretty good, you want pics? Silly question?

I want to see pics....:msp_biggrin:

Yep. T'was a silly question indeed...:D

Randy, be sure you grab a crankcase stuffer for tha 790 too. What's there now has a nasty white-ish chewing gum lookin' repair. Saw must've had a load of water in the oil tank at some time. I wouldn't wanna risk ruining that pristine piston/cylinder with an air leak...

I will try and measure up both of mine and see what they are.

Thanks.
Just remembered - There was a boss on the starter side of the cylinder for the rear screw of the coil assembly. The boss prevented the coil assembly from laying flat. I removed it and the coil mounted fine. On the other XL12s I've seen, the screw hole is there but no boss.

Homelite Model number from I.D tag - Trying to figure out what they are!!

I did some searching in this 'Homelite' forum trying to find a thread that would explain/show how one would know what model you have from the I.D. tag on the saw. Didn't really locate anything so if anyone knows of such a thread please post up a link.

Here are the I.D. tags that I'm trying to "decipher";

Thanks in advance for any knowledge regarding what model saws these are. Is there also any way of knowing their age from the info on the I.D. tag??

10526A = XL 12

10510 = Super XL 925W

figured it out on Homelite :: Home choose the "service and support" then "order parts" and it brings you to a search tool that will find "10526" and "10510" and then you can see the description and the IPLS

Nice to know what model saws I've got!!

Big Thanks, 'briantutt', for the info update on the two I.D. tags and what the saws are!! The homelite.com sourcing is great........except they don't have much in the line of available parts. Where should a guy go to find parts for these old saws!??

I think the XL12 is in much more restoreable condition.........but the Super XL925 would have a lot more grunt than anything I've got currently. I'll have to pull the plug and exhaust on both of them, look inside and try to assess what condition the P/C's are in.

Thanks again for getting me started on knowing what model saws these Homelites are!!

That is what I read at first :(

You sneaky bugger Zach......

keep dreaming lad

Yep. Get in line. I've been bugging Randy about this saw since he got it...:D

How is the Homelite 944 for a saw? Got a lead on one.

Thanks

Good saw. Basically an XL925 with an AV handlebar setup. I have a buddy who has a box of the AV stuff off of the 944 and 955 VI saws as he's converted them all back to rigid mounts. He's "old school" all the way...

The saw does not run currently but was put away as a runner I am told. I think he is wanting $50 for it. Trying to work out a way to get it:confused:

XL-101 Project saw.

Found the air leak. One of the three screws (#12-24) holding the magneto backplate on the crankcase was stripped and the other two were loose. Bummer. Vibration had totally stripped the threads from the housing.:msp_scared:

On the plus side, I have the #12-24 Helicoil kit left over from running Holley carbs for years. Hope there is enough meat left.

$7.50 ebay saw wasn't souch a bargin after all.:msp_rolleyes:

Edit: Cylinder has lost a lot of crome above the exhaust port. Gonna wash up the good parts and chuck the bad.

Hey all.

Just in the process of putting my XL Automatic back together. Had to pull it all apart to get the oil tank off. Seems to have a leak somewhere. also putting some new rings in while its open. The piston and cylinder walls are like new, considering the age of the saw, and I can tell it has never been apart before. Oh and I did some porting, and some polishing while I have it apart :).

Anyway do any of you know what sort of torque to put on the conecting rod bolts? (bearing cap)

Good morning. Conincedentally, I'm also in the process of reassembling a XL Automatic. Rings and piston should be replaced but I'm having trouble finding replacments. Any ideas? Would you happen to have a IPL for this saw. Raining here - bout Cowtown? Goball :bang:
