I know what you mean with the space. I have a whole pile of them laying on the dirt floor of my garage, and half of them run too :msp_scared:

A lot of mine are in the basement lol some in a shed and 3 on my dresser just to make my wife made a restored 20 mcs a 5-30 and a 9-26 now I need to put up a shelf in the bedroom no more room on the dresser :hmm3grin2orange:

Dude you are just as bad as me. I have a cleaned up ZIP and a Poulan 245 on my dresser. And I am about to put a 3-25 on it too. Then some are on the porch and the rest are in the garage. I usually always keep 1 or two in the back of my truck too....I have problems

Thanks Aaron. I guess I should have seen that. I'll keep looking and get it sorted out. I can never remember to keep pumping that manual oiler.

I see you're collecting all the large green torque monsters up. I don't think Ive seen the west coast guys talk about those much. Are you going to get strange looks when you show up with them?

I'm not getting all of 'em. There are almost no CounterVibe saws out here. Some of the guys I cut with are from an old logging family (they're the owners of the Homelite 750 that I worked on). They say "Pull-On" and laugh when I mention my green saws. I don't think they've ever seen any 'pro' green saws. They've been impressed by my little S25-CVA "brush saw". I'm looking forward to having them run my 5200 when it's squared away.

My 5200 'project' came from the Sacramento (Ca) area, as did my 306A. The 4900 is coming down from Washington state. The 4000 came from Massachusetts, as did my Dayton branded 245SA. Would love to scare up an 8500. Someday. My 1050A is heading up to Washington to hang with Jim's 8500's.:D

I have a 900-G and a 990-G with the original colors. So I thought I would try
something different with this one. This saw is posted here in this thread a few pages back in its old worn paint.

The guy I got this saw from had put new rings in it. When I pulled the saw over
with the plug out it seemed a little ruff and noise from the clutch side bearing.
I took the saw all the way apart and put in new bearings and seals in it.
I had to change the crank shaft and needle bearings. I took them out of a parts
saw I got from Aaron.....:msp_biggrin::msp_thumbsup:

I think the 5200 and 8500 will cut at the same rate but the expanded hand grip position makes the 8500 balance better.

Yeah. The 8500's an 'improved' 5200 with larger bar studs, strengthened castings, a longer handle 'spread', a different top cover/AF cover (and AF) setup, and some other improvements. I don't desire an 8500 because of a 'performance gap' between my 5200 and the 8500.........................I just desire one.:D

This 2000A is now a runner again. Mostly it just needed the usual fuel system rehab. Took a thumbnail sized hunk of rust out of the reed block while I was replacing gaskets. I have NO idea how it got there. Looks like a chunk of scale from inside an iron water pipe. Strange. I'm glad I didn't try to run the saw before replacing those gaskets. The P/C are almost pristine, and I'd be CRUSHED if I ruined them...

Cool choice on the color.

I have been eyeballin' some hammer tone paint in a silver or gray at the hardware store for my next victim just to see how it looks on a saw. Got any tips?

The hammer tone paint may be real cool. What saw is next?

I have only ever seen one 8500.

I've only seen 'em in pics. Only seen the one 5200 (mine) in person. That and my 4200 parts saw are the only saws of that series that I know of in my county. My guess is that there just wasn't a strong Poulan 'pro saw' dealer network here. MANY pro Homelites and Macs here. Some Pioneers.

Homelite 2000A IPL

I am in need of an IPL for my 2000A. I have IPL's for various 2100 saws, but none for the 2000A. I found out this weekend that the 2100 intake gaskets I ordered are different than 2000 gaskets. Would like to avoid that sort of flub in the future. Thanks guys!

Edit:

Forgot to mention that the Tillotson HL272A (I think that's the #...) carb on this saw has a governor (like on many Tillotson HS carbs I've seen). This is the first governed Tillotson HL that I've had. I disabled the governor valve the same way that I disable the governors on my governed HS carbs. Cut a .25" disc of aluminum from a PBR can and placed it in the governor bore before reseating the governor valve. Worked like a charm.:D
