Hey Gary!!!

That is my 1972 GMC Pro Street Muscle Truck, 425 hp SBC... :) Here is my '72 and my Dad's '70 Chevy...

The guy I'm giving the 250 to, is the same cat that I let run my 795 and my Homelite 770G. When he buried the 36" bar on the 795 in a 40" cottonwood round... he was hooked. :)

Gary

Nice! You hooked him good for sure!

Hey Jacob ol' buddy... yes... I do still want that 797 Shortblock... and the hot saw deal will be great... I know we talked about this fall. But I might have to push that back a little. Got a daughter graduating HS this year. Money is flying out of my pockets faster than I can put it in there.

But lemme know about the 797 S/B... :)

No worries on the timeline. I have to go help with the last part of the gulf oil spill as an ops specialist. I get to supervise hazmat teams cleaning up crude in the gulf for the next three weeks. I'll set you up with a big bore short block when I get back and I'll bring some hotsaw gear up your way later this year. In addition to the 91 project, I have two 101 projects and a hybrid 125/West Bend 820 that's going to be a decent runner with a 38mm Mikuni.

JJ, check your PM's, I have a question for you.

Gary, Bob Johnson has the grommets for the air box, Randy Duncan is likely the best bet for the spark plug cover. Don't run it much without the the spark plug cover as they can definitely overheat without the cooling air passing over the cylinder. If you don't believe it, notice how your hand on the throttle get skortched from the hot air blast coming out of there.

Lee, add to the list of saws with the automatic oiler the 440, 740, PM105, and SP105.

Pro Mac 5700-20

Mweba dropped off a box last night, thought it might have some parts that Jeff and I could use on his 600 Series collection.

The Pro Max 5700 was one of the saws built by McCulloch after being acquired by Jen Feng, but still trying to continue the old McCulloch tradition.

Well I couldn't just let this one set, so I decided I'd just clean it us a bit and put it together with some parts from my spares in the attic. The only major items missing were the large "bar plate" behind the clutch, and a carburetor.

I checked for spark before starting on this one, and it had a nice fat blue snap. After cleaning it up and putting it together, no spark. No how could that happen? Try a brand new just out of the package spark plug, no spark. Try a new module, no spark. Try another spark plug (old, used), good spark. Try the original module again, good spark. Now how could the old spark plug that worked earlier in the day and a brand new spark plug just not work?

At the end of the day, the only thing I was lacking was the choke shutter so I am counting on someone out there to find another old 600 Series saw and rescue a choke for me. If you'd rather just collect a few whole saws for me I will make arrangements to collect them...

By the way, 180 PSI compression and with a little prime this one was running.

At this point we have a 605, 610, 650, Eager Beaver, Timber Bear, and the 5700. Now I only need a 655 and the 600 Series Silver Eagle to round out the 600 Series collection...I think.

So my $40 dollar "junker" parts saw is a good runner... cool... I'm stoked. I'm going clean it up a little, do some work to the bar, put a new chain on it... and give it to one of my buddies that's just starting out in this hobby. He is gonna crap when I hand it to him and tell him "It's yours mang." :)

Gary

Way to go! I'm sure he will be thrilled.:clap::cheers:

McCulloch color match

Any ideas on a real close color match?

Something that is readily available, and would get me in the ball park.

I have an old 7-10 that is my e85 test mule. It might look better with a fresh paint job to go with the corn stickers!

Pro Mac 700 and 555

I have a Pro Mac 700 and 555. I'll try to post a picture but haven't had very good luck. No luck. It says I've exceeded the size. Not sure how I did with one small picture. I see some have posted huge pictures with lots of saws on here. I must not be doing something right.

Over sized picture

Actually there should be settings as to how many pixels are in he picture. So when you send a pic you are best served to decrease the density of the picture. This allows the server to handle it. If everyone sent 8.1 or greater.r the server would use too much memory and time. So reduce the pixel settings and try that! I have not gone into this site to see what the limits are but they are there most likely when you go to attach the pic.

sacrilege

Mac e85 Guinea pig,

McCulloch Super 7-10, made in Belgium, awesome porting, and always a real hot rod.

Check out this pop-up!

All of the 7-10's have pretty aggressive porting, part of what makes them so much fun to run.

Rustoleum Sunburst Yellow is close, a bit dark/more red but if they are not setting side by it will look good.

I also have some John Deere yellow that looks even more like the original but may not be available everywhere.

Mark,

That saw sure is clean. I have had some weird things happen in the ignition department. Nothing surprises me. I had the choke shudder, will look in the back shed for it.
