Brought a couple of 250's into the forest last night, one is an early run with yellow air cover the other is the one with the black air cover. Both run top notch  and cut great but the early run with the yellow air cover has more juice and power in the cut and sounds a lot different as both have the same muffler and at 80cc and same compression. After using both I'll grab the yellow cover one from now on as this is one of my favorite saws:rock:

Anyone who still runs a 250 is okay in my book:D

I hear ya Orelogger, I ran two tanks thru my S-250 just last night. My dad was quick to grab the SP-60, out of my truck, he's 87 yrs. so he gets smaller saw. He still likes to make chips tho.

Great weather for firewood cutt'n. Best summer Lol.
Next saw out will be my one-53, or the 790. I've got some nice large cherry to cut, for my dad's woodshed.

McCulloch 10 Series Automatic Oil Pump Clip and Seal

I just talked with Ted who is working on his SP81 and this is one of the things we talked about. If you are taking a 10 series mac apart then these parts are a must when reinstalling the auto oiler found inside the oil tank. The clip is a very valuable part in making sure that the auto oiler is sealed good inside the oil tank. This part is a must because a lot of times I have found that just the one screw holding the auto oiler on isn't good enough. If you don't have a good seal between the auto oiler and the crankcase then your saw will have an air leak or it will suck bar oil into the crankcase and create a nice smoke show. The part number for the clip kit is 215246 and the seal part number is 92818. Here is a pic of what the clip and seal look like.

And here is what the parts look like in the IPL.

Thanks Mark! Usually if you have the oil pump sealed up good and good crank seals the 10 series saws are very dependable. I have almost all of my 10 series saws where they will crank first pull cold and if I'm fast enough to open the choke they will stay running. It has gotten to the point where I think that the 10 series saws are my favorite. I can't wait to get my pm800 going to see how it compares to my sp81 that i just built.

New Arrival

Just arrived today, McCulloch 1-76 from the great Pacific NW. This was a CL find identified in this thread and acquired through the assistance of Farley9N. It was a participant of the PNW GTG even though I couldn't make it and has now made it home.

I will have to track down the bar tomorrow as it shipped separately and didn't arrive at the same time as the power head. The chain with the saw is .404/.058, Square ground semi-skip. I guess that's just about as unique as they come today.

Enjoy!

This one had the air filter cover from a Super 797 so I went ahead and swapped it with the one from a 1-76 I picked up a while back. As you can see, the muffler was pretty bad so I went ahead and replaced it with an old round one I had on hand. I would really like to find a few of the old rectangular mufflers if there are any out there just to try and keep some of these older saws in a more original condition.

Ahhhh a lucky soul you are!

He is one of the nicest guy you could ever meet like a lot of other people here on this board. This is truelly one place where everyone seems to help others. Rare find on the net.

I am was very glad I was able to make it to the Iowa GTG to meet so many people here face to face. Great bunch:bowdown:

Jacob,

Want to meet in Cape Giradeau on Sunday evening, I will be spending the night there rather than trekking down to lovely Cairo, IL.

I will be happy to bring the parts along with me.

Mark

Man... I wish It was another day. I have church in the morning and another church meeting later on in the evening.
But Cape is just alittle under 2 hours from where I live.

Yes sir, I havent met any of the guys on here. But looking forward to the day!

Well guys, I met CPR (Charles) at a local Tractor/Truck/Semi Truck pull... I got there and saw the show... It was awesome... clouds and clouds of black smoke blotting out the evening sun... best way to say "#### you, EPA!!!" All of that diesel smoke surrounded us crowd fellers, and kept them skeeters and bugs the hell away from us. I love that feature... :D

Oh, sweet trucks there... one was a 541 Cube BBF powered 70's F-250 or 350... it hauled ass with that sled... Had to have a tunnel ram intake, since the hood was about 6" tall in the middle, where there were two slots to let air in.

A couple of the Dodge Cummins trucks had the right headlight removed and an intake tube straight to the turbo... one had a stack right out of the hood... that one really made some smoke...

Our favorite Semi was the cabover Peterbilt... that thing hauled ass all the way to the 300 and something mark... badass...

Favorite tractor... well all of the IH's, of course... :D

Okay, the main reason I am posting here is to tell you is the guy is real nice. Also, I got my 1-76 parts saw from him today too, so I now have just about everything I need, and when I do get to tear that parts saw down, and organize the tins, etc. and figure out what I want sandblasted and painted, then I will likely have the 790 cylinder bored while I'm busy messing around with the tins.

Oh man, this saw will be fricking awesome!!! :blob2: Trust me guys, you will be in for a treat when I finally finish her...

Also, if anyone can help me out with a 3' or longer roller nose bar, I'd appreciate that. Some help with chain would be nice too... will have to figure out the size, definitely will post some pics tomorrow of the spur drums so we all (or I) can hopefully figure out the pitch.

Geez, where was I? I was thinking of something else, but forgot...

Oh, also some updates of random non-chainsaw stuff may be included in my post(s) tomorrow. Please don't smack me for it...
