Well once you explained to us that since you were a successful engineer, this must be a stratified engine, what else is there to say? That sort of reasoning is impossible to refute.

No matter that I've had dozens of these saws apart.....and see nothing different in their design that would make them regurgitate exhaust gases, you being a retired engineer makes what I see wrong.

Even attempting to explain how one of these carbs work is a waste of time here.......

Strato, non-strato, puking hydrocarbons or not.......I don't really care at this point.
Great...
Now I have gas...

And prefer Dolmars and Husky's...

Off topic a little, but Ryobi (japan) had "EZ" start cylinders on there 31 cc leaf blowers (certain years only). This was a simple set of narrow vertical slits at the roof of the transfers extending up the cylinder wall about 3/8th ". (A 2 channel cylinder)

These slits at high rpm allowed exhaust to enter the transfer ports and mix with the fresh charge, (prior to the transfers actually opening to the cylinder) which reduced combustion temps (and NOx emissions). Think EGR idea.

At starting, the slits acted as a decompressor. The slits tended to clog with carbon over time.
Ryobi later abandoned this design for a 4 channel cylinder.

Well I havent taken mine apart as Im not comfortable to practice porting on a 1100$ saw!! Lol! Carb limits removed, muffler gutted, original exit exhaust opened behind deflector, dp cover installed, unlimited ignition coil installed and tuned to 14000rpm, keystock shaved .020 and timing advanced and running 87 octane with H1R at 32:1

I haven't been inside mine yet, just a dp muffler with the openings enlarged a bit, 100 LL av-gas, and somewhere around 40:1 with Bailey's synthetic. So far it's easy on fuel and, after about fifty tanks, it's running about as good as it ever will in stock form.

As for all this crap about what the saw is or isn't...it's a darn good little saw no matter what terms the self appointed experts use to describe the innards. It does the job it was intended to do and it does it well. What the hell more could you want?

Now, back to work...my thumbs are tired and I have eyestrain trying to type on this itty-bitty phone keyboard. You guys go ahead and argue, I have wood to cut.

Well its not a waste of time explaining any part of this saw as Im sure myself and plenty other members would appreciate your input but u will always have someone to oppose every comment no matter the subject?

And that is just the nature of this site these days.

I wonder why all the guys that really know and understand chainsaws just up and left?
Well I still say theres still plenty of people who appreciate the advice you post! Just out of curosity how many of the saws thats came through your shop have been AS members?

Some of us are simply interested in understanding how this stuff works. In my case, since I will never be inside one of these, the input from those of you who have and have measured the actual numbers on timing and such, provides the information that the manufacturer never will and is much appreciated. There is some real innovation going on in engine design, and also a lot of hype having to do with brand image, ownership of intellectual property and such. It can be tough to figure out which is which.

Every single one.
Lol!!!! EXACTLY! And Id bet that anyone that argues or opposes your advice hasnt ran or own one of ur saws!! Theres a member who pointed me in the right directions when I was looking at a saw he was selling on ebay and ask if I was a member of AS. I joined and personal messaged him and bugged the heck out of this guy trying to learn but he ask me not to use his name in any post because of drama that would follow. Hes always been a good friend and also told me if I wanted to know about performance and porting there was 2 guys for me to message that was hands down the best. Randy Evans known as Mastermind and Brad Snelling and Snellerized Saws. End of story!! FIRE AWAY WITH THE ADVICE!! Obviously plenty are listening to yalls advice evident of the saws in your shop?

Not every single one...
Levi ain't a member...
;)

I thought he meant the 461s.....

I've done lots of saws for people that aren't AS members. All the 461s I've done were for AS members though.

I get work from youtube, other sites, and word of mouth.

I've been getting several saws from guys on Masterblaster's site lately. Those guys really respect each other BTW. One of my favorite sites on the web.

Not sure who masterblaster is...
Have a hard time keeping up with such things...

Just sitting in the dark over here in the Ozarks...

How are you liking it compared to the 660 ? Is it getting the same job done ?
