my buddy has a JD 4600.

i was not impressed with it at all.i have always used kubotas before.
we were on a job and the steering ram broke on the JD.called the dealer and they admittied it was a weak design and the only way to fix it is to replace the whole front axle at customers expense.replacement part was around $400 for a week peice of crap ram.believe it or not,no one here had it in stock.had to drive to springfield vermont to get it.i will say the folks there were great but i will never buy a JD.it's sad that american companies are going to crap.makes me very sad.i did do a job for a guy and he just got a mahindra.looked really nice and he was digging through rock with the backhoe like it was peat moss.i'd have to give them a look.

You pay more because you get more is B.S.

Meh, if paying more gets me a good saw from a good dealer that knows my name and knows my face, then it's worth it 100% to me. And if my paying more keeps him in business and keeps me from shopping at Lowe's or Northern Tool over the phone, again, all the better. To me, BS is saving $50 on a saw online only to have to send it back when something is wrong, or having to deal with the guy who sells countertops at Lowe's when my "pay less get more" of a saw goes south, or I need an individual part like a throttle linkage.

To each his own. It's just priorities.

My feelings too.

I just bought a Compact Utility Tractor, and when you put a JD and a Kubota side by side you can see the differences.
The Kubotas are just plain crude, and rough, wheras the JD is almost a polished work of art.

My understanding of John Deere is they have a heckuva parts network and get your parts to you in a couple days. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. As I've been thinking of a tractor, and I like the Kubota's, do you know what the timeline is for an out of stock part?

I went to a John Deere dealer that still has the Husky lighted sign up and asked if they could order me parts. They said "no". I then received a great history of that dealers relationship with Husky. All was good and then boom, it was all really bad. He sent me to another more recently local ex-dealer and they could do me no better but had a similar story. Husky burned their bridges with these people but not as bad as Dolmar, I sometimes still get yelled at when I mention that name.

Oh I'm with you on this as far as buying on line.
On the other side on line sales has opened doors for people out of range.
I remember when Northern tool started selling Saws and my Husky dealer was and is upset. Why? Because the rip off S.O.B was selling his saws over list price. It was ether buy his line or go 50 miles one way to get a Honest price.
So to me Northern tool sales made him go honest on his pricing.
The internet is here and has brought the world closer. After all would I be talking to you right now ?
The Government would love nothing better to see us staying at home, going on line, and ordering delivery pizza for dinner. What better way to monitor its people.
So yes sales is going to be on the internet. Nothing is perfect and not everything is fair. You just have to work with it.
What if there was no E-Bay.. It works the same way how much have you bought there ? where you should have supported you local store owners ? For shame.

I did not think a tractor should be cute to plow. Im rough around the edges too.

Well......looks like they pulled the same shut down of the western distribution network......They will be going direct.....they did this years back on the east coast and stiffed the distributers

Well done Exlax

Don't you mean "smooth move Exlax?" Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here! :hmm3grin2orange:

I had assumed that the "Exlax" was a play on Elux which was uber appropriate and who doesn't love a name bastardization?

But apparently the mule was correct in this instance because of the lack of a retort.

I've bought TONS of stuff on e-bay, all used. Do you know where I can go locally and buy used/obsolete saw parts, or vintage slot cars, or old advertisements? I look at e-bay as the world largest flea market with a really good directory, nothing more.

Not really, :hmm3grin2orange:

Wrong Manual. Let me give you a hint. The man from RBI Corp was here yesterday and now I know even more according to him. If what he told me is true, and he's yet to be wrong, it would mean Elux is still shafting their dealers same as before , just not as deep, you'll see...

Yep thats one of many ways e-bay is used.
All done by the Internet, So where should the line be drawn ?

Yep and Chevy is still shafting thier employees, But do you care ?
Tell ya what, stop hinting around and spill the beans.

Can you buy a car online? Can you get a refrigerator online? How about a bass boat? In theory all of these items can be purchased online, the "savings" is quickly eaten up in shipping and set-up costs, and frustration is sure to follow when there is a warrany issue. Online sales of new merchandise is not the utopia you make it out to be. Go and sign papers allowing the bank to take your house if you can't pay the loan and open your own retail outlet of anything......................then tell me what you think of online sales of the same stuff you sell, your tune WILL change.

I bought my truck on line, Heck I was on leave in cal. and bought my truck in Michigan. Picked it up when I got home.
No I am not trying to make it a Utopia but its there. And any body who has recently open a retail outlet had better know what they're up against.
The Internet has been changing the world. Nothing is written in Stone.

Well now there you have a vaild point for I don't care one way or the other, makes no nevermind to me. I'm not fighing in Iraq either but should I care or have a opinion, hmmm.

As for quit hinting around all the details have yet to be worked out regarding this deal about closing online sales. Seems there's a real good chance it won't be shut down for everyone, I hear one outfit may be allowed to continue the practice because they sell at full retail online. Interesting how they choose who will and who won't.

Remember these numbers Manual, 60% verses 40%. When all is said and done I'll explain what's behind those numbers and you will see what box store sales and online sales have done to the walk in dealers for Elux. You'll understand why they are finally doing sometihng about their business practices..

OK Now understand this I am all for the walk in stores.

Try to remember what I said about Huskys Big picture. There business practices Are effective. Maybe they have reached there goals and now have to restructure there intrastructure. Sadly I don't think that thy are looking out for there walk in dealers as well they could. Like I said payback time.

Also Think what I said about the Dealer in my area. About selling over list price. That pratice hurts Husky.
I most cases Husky cost less then Stihl. The Reason being is Turnovers.
Now you get this guy out there selling there saws same as Stihl. Sure he made a better profit in his pocket. So he thinks. But how many customers went with Stihl because of them being the same price.
Husky wants turnovers for growth. That Husky dealer may have sold two saws instead of One.
Husky is looking out for their sales and if it takes Northern Tool to sell at full retail on line so be it.
